Advice for 1 ngt accomodation nr Miami

Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere to stay for 1 night nearish to Miami - we are flying into Miami and are unable to get into our accomodation in Lake BV until the next day so are planning to pick up car and drive about halfway between Miami/Orlando. Would be grateful for any recommendations for somewhere to stay for that 1st night

Sorry - don't have any recommendations, except to look in tour operaters - Virgin uses Hotel Mia, I think it's called.

When friends flew into Miami cos they couldn't get Orlando, they decided just to stop at a decent looking motel along the way. They actually stopped at a Shoney's restaurant and picked up one of the travellers' guides which gave huge discount coupons for many good hotel chains along the way (Holiday Inn, Ramada, Etc.).

I think a couple of other people in these boards have stopped at Miami, so sure someone will come along with an answer soon

I was recommended the Thumberbird hotel on the beach - but in the end we did priceline for an airport hotel and ended up at the Hilton for £40/night. It was very very nice, but really we just wanted to go to sleep, so it could have been v. basic and it wouldn't have mattered.
