Hello:

Advice needed on booking for a 2008 Double Dip. We sail on the Magic Feb 3, 2007. I am interested in rebooking onboard for a 7 day 2008 Double Dip cruise. Since the rates are coming out on the 31st, should I be booking w/ a TA first, then comparing this w/ what is offered onboard? Do I wait and just book onboard, or will this be too late for a "good rate"? This is my first time sailing, thus my first time rebooking while onboard...

We are likely going to rebook a Category 9...

Suggestions? Advice?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think there are any double dips offered for 2008...............:confused3 Are there?

You must have missed it.
The Disney Magic's September 27, October 25, November 22 and December 20, 2008 departures will be special itineraries that stop in Costa Maya and have a "double dip" at Disney's Castaway Cay:

*
Saturday - Port Canaveral
* Sunday - Castaway Cay
*
Monday - At Sea
*
Tuesday - Costa Maya
*
Wednesday - Cozumel
*
Thursday - At Sea
*
Friday - Castaway Cay
*
Saturday - Port Canaveral

Autocon,
We are on the same cruise! (please join our group over on the Cruise Meets Forum!!!)
My game plan is to get on the phone and get a quote on the 31st....if is seems good I will book it......but then I will get a quote for the same cruise while on board! If it is a better price I will cancel the original when we return.

My guess is that it depends on what cruise you are trying to book. From what I understand, the faster a cruise book the faster the prices go up. If it goes up in the first few days, booking on the 31st may be the best bet. If the price doesn't change before we sail, the price should be the same and the 10% off will be the best bet.

Just my plan....hope it helps!
See you in 12 days!

tjeagle - do you plan to phone Disney directly, or use a TA? Just curious.

I have my request in with a DU TA, she has been very helpful! I'd like to think I could get on the phone myself, but with the kids getting ready for school and getting to work....I'll leave it up to the professional!

Personally, I'd book myself on the 31st. Then when I got onboard I'd see what price I coudl get there with the onboard discount and credit. Take it from there. You can always cancel the first one and rebook onboard.

When I look on the Disney Cruiseline web site and look up the dates that you gave, the itinerary lists Key West not Castaway Cay. The reason why I am questioning you (and the OP) is only because I want to be sure. I would LOVE  to go on another double dip. I had heard that they were thinking about offering a double dip again in 2008 so I was bummed when I saw the 2008 dates and no double dip. Are you 100% positive? I asked someone about the "Alternative Western itinerary" and they referred me to the DCL website which only shows Key West. What do you think?

Thanks for any info!

Kathy
