Advice: Best way to book

Hello DISCruisers!

I am hoping someone might be able to help us out with a query we have about booking our August 2016 Disney Cruise. Normally, there are three of us (mum and two adult daughters), and we have an exterior room with balcony (category 4/5/6). However, next year, there might be four of us (another adult). If there are four of us, then we will be having our usual exterior room for two adults, and an inside cabin across the walkway for the other two adults.

Our difficulty comes in that the fourth member of our party has just started a new job, and won't be able to confirm her attendance until well into 2016. Now, obviously we do not want to leave booking until March/April of next year for an August sail date, so what is the best way around booking so that we do not get charged too many cancellation/amendment fees?

There will definitely be three of us, and definitely one category 4/5/6 with balcony room. It's just whether we become two rooms of two, or stay as one room of three, and that fact cannot be determined until March/April 2016.

I'd suggest you still book the two rooms. If guest #4 doesn't come through, then cancel that inside room and put the third person in the first room. In April you'd still be before the final payment date, and no penalties would be applied.

Thank you for the feedback. We are a bit confused reading the contract/booking information on the cruise line page, as it said 75-44 days you lose the deposit for any changes made, but we were unclear whether anything before 75 days would incur any charges. But that's great to know that it won't. Might just get onto booking those two rooms over the weekend then! Thank you!

No penalties don't start until the PIF date. Usually 75 days, but different cruises have different PIF dates. Unless you book a Concierge room. Concierge deposits are non-refundable at any time.
