Advice about the Port Orleans

Next Year on our honeymoon - We want to stay at one of the Port Orleans hotels but aren't sure which one to stay at. Any suggestions?

We are non-smokers do we have to specify this? Also, any tips on how to make it extra special for our honeymoon?

I've only stayed at POR but would absolutely recommend it for your honeymoon (or any occasion) My boyfriend and I stayed there this past September and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. We were in AB Bldg 18 room 1839 and it was great! If you are into woodsey type atmosphere, AB is a great option. If you like the "gone with the wind" feeling, then the Mansions are a better bet. We spent a good part of the first day there just walking around the resort and it was breathtaking. Also, they have horse drawn carriage rides that you can take too...great idea for a honeymoon!

My parents have stayed at POFQ and we went over there for lunch one day while we were at WDW this year and the resort is also very nice. I just feel that even though POR is larger in size, it seems more intimate to me with the lush landscaping and such.

I think either way you go, you'll be happy. But I definitly throw in my vote for POR as I love it!

Oh...if you like alcoholic beverages, may I suggest a Miss Melodie's Colada at the River Roost Lounge inside the main building. Absolutely the BEST colada I've ever had in my life! I wish I could get them flown up to MI!

We stayed at port orleans five times.I think that it gets the most bang for your buck. The surroundings are quiet, unlike all star resorts. They have a good food court, gift shop, game room, quiet walkways. we are leaving next Saturday to go WDW for christmas. They have the resort decorated so nicely. I would recommend Port orleans to anyone.

You can go to allearsnet.com and look at pictures of both POR and POFQ. I know the rooms at both have recently been redone. Maybe someone else can tell us if there are more updated pictures somewhere else.

My husband and I stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside last year for our honeymoon and are planning a stay at the French Quarter this year for our anniversary. I loved it there. We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section last year and it's very romantic and quiet. It's really nice to walk along the pathways at night AND our favorite part was taking the boat to Downtown Disney in the evenings at sunset. I can definately recommend Riverside for a honeymoon and in Feb. hopefully I can recommend the French Quarter too! The whole resort is really beautiful and I can't wait to go back. It was a while back, but I am sure its ever nicer now since they just renovated it. We thought it was a great place and there did not seem to be as many kids.

We just got back from POFQ and loved it. I know everyone says don't pay extra for water view but we did and the full moon on the black water at night was beautiful and peaceful. We did get coffee and stand out there talking. But if you don't get the view there are benches sitting on the water that are just as peaceful!

We stayed in Bldg. 5 and it was so quiet we didn't know anyone was around. As for the rest of the resort the theme is great and it is very nice to stroll down the "streets". The carriage ride would be a nice romantic thing to do.

I would definitely go with POR. We stayed at both and POR had a much more romantic setting. It is very quite and peaceful. You truly can feel transported.
My family did not care for POFQ at all and would not stay there again.
I do think you'll find the boats to downtown disney both romantic and extremely convenient.

We have stayed at POR twice. On our honeymoon we stayed in the mansions and then this month at Alligator Bayou.

It is I think the best resort. We would stay there every time. The food court, the gift shop and the foyer are absolutely beautiful.

I also find that the buses aren't that bad and the boat to Downtown is gorgeous.

I love everything about it!

Can't wait to go back.

Both are lovely and I don't think you will be disapointed either way. That being said, we stayed at POR for our honeymoon in the Mansions and it was breathtaking. Walking around this resort at night was absolutely the most memorable and romantic thing we did on our whole honeymoon. I can't recommend it enough.

I'd pick FQ over RS. FQ is smaller, less spread out, has more of a "romantic" air to it.
