Hi :wave2: Our DD's boyfriend's parents would love to camp if they go to Florida. Where is the best place to camp, close to Disney and what is the adverage cost per night. They have a pop up trailer.

Not sure about cost, you could easily look it up online but we stayed at a Yogi Campground right outside of Disney (granted it was in 1984) and it was a wonderful campground. We really liked it and we camp at Yogi campgrounds all around the country because they are pretty much the same everywhere. Clean, organized activities etc. That said, we find that rates at Ft. Wilderness are pretty reasonable compared to some nicer campgrounds around here (OC MD and Lancaster PA).

I don't think price is the real "draw" for most people on this board. Lets face it, with an AP or AAA you can get a value resort for about the same $$$$. Especially if you count in tent/air mattress/camping supplies it would actually be a bit cheaper in some instances to stay in a value resort.

Fort Wilderness just has a "atmosphere" you don't find elsewhere. Kids can ride their bikes and explore. Theres activities of all kind to get involved in, the parks are a boat/bus ride away, you can sit on the beach and watch the fireworks, theres a sing along/hot dog and marshmellow roast/movie every night.

A lot of people go just to stay in the campground and don't go to the parks.

For about $55 per night you can have all the above in a partial hook-up and I'm sure they would love the "atmosphere"

There is Tropical Palms Funresort you can look it up online, we have stayed there before and it was just beautiful. Just a couple of miles from WDW.

No doubt about it, the best place to camp close to Disney IS Disney. After all, Fort Wilderness is a perfect 10! The cost can vary, but you can check that out on-line or with a phone call.
