Adventures in Bora Bora

I'm going to the zoo today! Bad storms last night, there are leaves all over the streets from being battered by hail. Signs and traffic barrels got moved around.....few branches here and there. There was a tornado, but I don't think it ever came all the way to the ground, the sirens were wailing, and the wind was SOOO loud! It was sure scary! We were in the closet for 45 minutes! Ever try to keep a 5 year old and a hyperactive 13 year old in a coat closet for 45 minutes????

He'll be 6 soon, Paige, so your life will improve. And no is the answer to that. I only remember one time that we had to take cover in our powder room in Houston...that was Ron, Alyssa, pregnant me, and 2 of our cats...the other one was sleeping on a chair in the breakfast area where a bunch of windows were, the noisiest spot in the house. The tornado hit a block or two away.

Good Morning! Not at work today since I have to load up the U-Haul with my sister!

Yesterdays opinions-
1) Kathryn was telling about how the "no threats" isn't always followed at school. Say Kathryn is chasing Ethan at recess and Ethan yells at her,'IF YOU CATCH ME, I"M GOING TO CRUSH YOU!!!!' Yes, technically that was a threat, but I personally don't think it would need to be reported. My sister feels that everytime Ethan says that to Kathryn, she should tell someone. 'what if one time he really is mad at you and does want to crush you. You go on not telling someone and he's going to get away with it.'

2) On chasing boys, my sister was amazed at me that I joked around with Kathryn about chasing boys. I believe she even slapped me on the arm. What am I showing her if I tell her it's all right to chase them.

ETA- I forgot to add she told me how amazed she was with my driving around town! I knew all the ins and outs. Hmmm, I've lived up here for 13 1/2 years, I'd hope I know my way around.

Can you guys keep my dad in your thoughts and prayers today? He's going in for surgery this morning for Basal Cell Carcinoma. It's on his nose and it's small, but a little extra pixie dust can't hurt.

I used to chase boys, Caro. Hmmm, not sure if that's good or bad.

By the time I got to the shelter there were hardly any cages to clean (we don't have a lot of cats in there right now since some were adopted).

I have so many things to do today. I should get off my tush and get busy.

OK, my sister is on the road. The ferry leaves this afternoon and she'll be in Sitka on Monday morning. We actually got along all right. Of course it was a short stay too.
I always feel guilty about my feelings about her. I just have to remember she is a very lonely person, who doesn't have friends. Has never been in a relationship(that I know of) and has vastly different views than I do. It doesn't make them right or wrong, just different. She is still my sister and always will be.

I think I'm done cleaning my house. Which is very different than my house actually being clean. Aw, who cares? I do have a few other things to do today before Jake's game. My DD got home from school and her interview, so I'm learning about how that went. Seems like a good fit.

I wish we were close too and I know my mom had wished that. I guess maybe it's just because we have lived such different lives, I really don't know. I don't remember when we were younger being like this. It's sad and I don't really know how to change it.
