Can someone explain the Adventures Club in Pleasure Island
DH's co-worker said we have to go but of course DH didn't get much info out of him

Is it something that is acceptable for kids age 12 and 9?

Not so much, but they might enjoy some of it.
Nothing to really offend them, but its not a place designed for kids.

Its centered around a bar, with several other nearby "rooms" where scheduled "events" take place.
(Some feel like a kind of "Group Therapy" for those who fancy they don't need it.)
A "radio show" takes place in the library where the haunted pip-organ plays "requests"... this is a kind of "off-center" place (and I DO like it!)

In general its "interactive improve theater" based on a THEME: of being in a classic early 20th century UK "gentleman's club" (women where never allowed in the "real thing" but are most welcome in THIS one.)

We may hear from the folks whose children found that "this was the highlight of their trip", but as I said, AC is not really designed with "children's entertainment" in mind. They probably just won't "get it".

Imagine a stuffy, upper class men's club in the 1930s whose members are wealthy globe-trotters in search of adventure. The club is where they meet to display their trophies and boast of their exploits. You're there to be sworn in as an honorary member and the 'real' members will interact with you in the lounge and there will be lectures (humorous) in various rooms where trophies are displayed. There are also larger shows in the library lasting about 20 mins. You need not attend any shows or lectures, just hanging out in the lounge is fun in itself. This is absolutely my favorite thing in WDW, I spend hours here every time we go to PI. If you go, get to the lower level, get a beverage and give the place at least 45 mins of your time before deciding if it's for you or not. My daughters started enjoying this in their late teens.

The adventurer's Club is my favorite place in the world! (And not just Disney World). We always go there between 2-5 times on a trip (less so now that my parents don't like to stay out so late :teeth: ). Basically it is set up as a clup for explorers in 1937, with CMs (all in character) putting on shows the whole night long. There is a basic script they follow throughout the night, from about 8p.m. to 1 a.m., but a lot of the things they do are improv as well. There are three main show rooms. They are the library, where all the big shows are done, the mask room, and the treasure room. There is also the main salon where you can just relax and have a drink, and watch what goes on around you. The characters include Pamelia Perkins, club president, curator Fletcher Hodges, and Famous Explorers like Otis T. Wren and Hathaway Brown. There are also many other surprises you just have to see for yourself!

As for the littl'uns, we've seen kids about those ages many times, though the jokes can get a bit racy (especially when the french maid is around ;) ) It all depends on what you feel is best for your kids. The first time I went, I think I was about 10 (18 now) and I fell in love with the place. If you go more than once in the week, expect CMs to have switched characters, and if you're lucky, some of them may even remember you ;) .

Have a great Trip, whether you decide the Club is for you or not!

Adventurers Club is a great time, if you are into it...Some love it, some don't like the interaction...I would take Bill from PAs advice and give it some time. Personally, I have never had a bad time there...As far as kids are concerned, you will hear a LARGE variety of opinions about if kids are appropriate at PI (not just AC). Bottom line is you know your kids, and it is up to you what is acceptable for them. Keep in mind that AC is still a BAR and you may see adults doing things that adults do when exposed to alcohol. That being said, I have not seen anything that was completely over the top.
In summary, AC is an awesome place! KUNGALOOSH!

Adventure Club is awesome!!!! I think it is definitely more geered towards adults, not children. I say that, but I have seen some children in there...though not many.

It is a blast!!! DH and I LOVE going there each trip...it is sooo much fun!! The performers will have you rolling on the floor laughing. It's just nice to be around a whole group of folks who are relaxed and having a grand old time! :yay: :yay:

I just want to say to all of you:

KUNGALOOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you go to AC, remember that word...it's the signature toasting word! Have fun!!! :drinking1
