I trust fellow DVCers on this one-I'm intrigiued by this new Adnvetures by Disney offer (free 3 day cruise). However, my kids are 5 and 3. I read on anther site that Disney recommended children start around age 8. Any advice on going (or not) with little ones? If so, can you recommend which itinerary?

Thanks

Let me start by saying that I have not been on an Adventure by Disney trip.
However, if Disney recommends the trips are for children over 8, I would not consider taking a 3 and a 5 year old on these trips.
Disney is very family focused in their offerings. If they think it is inappropriate for a 3 year old and a 5 year old, I would trust their judgement and honor their recommendation.
Perhaps you can do this trip in 5 years, when it is appropriate for your children and the other folks on the tour.

If you're intrigued by the $1000 or so a free 3-day cruise is worth, check out some of the prices for the AbD itineraries. That may put an end to your curiosity right there. :thumbsup

I haven't been on and ABD trip yet, but I have spent a lot of time on that board...I asked a question just like this...and was told that if the child is younger than maybe you should do a different trip since it may too much for the child

Actually more than that for 4 people and quite a discount on the usual high price of ABD.

I have done an ABD trip - to Germany. We had several kids younger than the minimum recommended age. For that trip, it worked OK....but the tour group is not going to make a lot of compromises for your kids. There isn't time to nap. Nights might be late and mornings might be early. There will be a lot of walking in places where strollers aren't appropriate. Meals are usually divided up with a kids table and the adults eating together. There are active activites that the little ones sat out on - bike riding and archery for that trip - which meant that the parents were also sitting out. The tour activities are going to be targeted to a wide range - there was plenty of looking at churches and talking about Art or History - made accessable to kids, but really sort of targeting the ten years to adult - not trying to talk History to a six year old. That one has a pretty low minimum recommended age though - the minimum age is four - you couldn't book it with a three year old. The minimum recommended age is six.

My DW and I did the Yosemite/ San Francisco trip this summer. IIRC the youngest traveller was 9 and he had some difficulty with the biking across the Golden Gate. In fact, he was small enough that no bike fit him. I and a few other travellers took turns "driving" him on a carry-on attachment so he wouldn't miss the experience.

I would be hesitant to take such young children on an Adventures trip.

Guess it depends upon the cruise. Our family of 4 sailed for 3 nights on the Wonder for $950 earlier this year.
