Adventurer's Club Open?

Hmmmm, today's not April 1st.
Could this be for real?
Was admission being charged? If they really decided to reopen, they could not do this for free.

OMG to this news! I would be the first to say it was a private event being held, but if random guests were allowed in that IS something!

oh please i hope this means the AC is coming back oh pleaseeee

Taken from another website (wdwnewstoday)
From what we are being told is there was not any requirements on admission and PI CMs were directing people to the club. Also, unlike other private events there were apparently Library shows going on.

That is very interesting about the CMs directing people to the club. Why would they WANT people in a club that is supposed to have closed???

On another board someone mentioned being at Laffer's Friday evening for awhile and nothing was going on.
And they had a friend that happened to be near AC last night and did not see anything unusual.
I don't know... At this point it would take more to convince me AC was open.
My guess it was a private party.
Back in the usual PI days, quite often AC would not open until 9 pm, when they would usher a private group out and across the walkway to CW.
I just wonder if they had a private group at AC, and kept the club open for however long afterwards. It could be for a variety of reasons, esp if the cast are union and they have to be paid for a set number of hours of work whether they do or not. :confused3
If AC was open to the public, it would be interesting to know what the hours were.

The page this was linked to has been pulled down now.

Well, the page is back up, with an edit that it was a "pseudo-private party" for the marathoners, and the public was indeed allowed to enter.

but even so....why would they open for marathoners? i am also trying not to get my hopes up but the building is still standing, people are still performing and guests are still allowed in....

i also heard that disney is not getting the corporations to rent building space for restaurants and stores on PI like they intended...for whatever that's worth

A party for marathoners doesn't make a lot of sense since, as has already been mentioned, they are early to bed and early to rise. I suppose it could be for people who did not run on Sunday. But the capacity of AC is very small and how many thousands run in in the marathon? And then invite family and friends? And then invite the general public too? Very odd explanation.

And please.....no photos.

Yeah. The whole thing seems odd. Not to say it did not happen. But...
It use to be marathoners rec'd in their race packet a PI Pass for Sunday night. (Which would have been tonight.) And only the participants rec'd a pass. Anyone with them not a race participant had to buy their own or own a PAP.
The awards ceremony use to be held Sunday in DTD also. This year it was not.
And although marathoners took advantage, for the most part they did not stay out late. (Those who even stayed at all and did not check out after the race.)
They had gotten up long before dawn. Stood out in the cold and dark for hours, ran 26.2 miles and were pretty well shot by the evening. (Even with resting or whatever Sunday afternoon.)
I am sure some made it. But from our past experiences PI did not have a lot of marathoners that stayed into the night at PI on Sunday.

The Saturday party could have been a group such as Team in Training, or another group willing to shell out the dough.

DH was not aware of any specific group event this year like that. (This year he was in the 5k and half marathon.) Not to say he knows all. However he is on internet running groups and often knows at least in part of something extra or groups arranging a meeting.

I believe the numbers for the marathon was 18,000 participants. And I think the half marathon was 16,000.
Guessing this was a private group of a few hundred that had it for a few hours. Then maybe the doors were opened to GP for a few hours more. :confused3
But seems odd no one else has verified this, yet anyway.

This was not likely Disney opening the AC for the marathoners, but a Sponsor event that had been pre-booked. Public was allowed just so the place would be full, and the sponsor likely gets to advertise themselves in front of anyone who attended and wasn't concerned whether it was actual marathoners or not.

I'd like to remind everyone to send letters, email, and make sure execs KNOW you want AC(and hopefully mannequins and 8-trax) reopen again! It NEVER hurts to let Disney know what you think even when it isn't positive. I'm vacationing for a week and staying off property because they closed PI...and I'm letting them know it!

from the website mentioned previously:
was open was for a pseudo-private party for the Walt Disney World Half-Marathon. This was not a typical Adventurer’s Club private party, as the general public was indeed permitted, invited, and encouraged to enter, but it was a 21+ party being held primarily for marathon participants, family, and friends.

Well, it had to be a private party as the general half marathon public was not aware nor invited. Or if it was, DH certainly was omitted from the guest list.

Later in the post it states it was a "21+ being held primarily for marathon participants, family, and friends."

Well, the half marathon and marathon are two different events held on differnet days. So it was for one or both? :confused3 (Guess it is not our business since it was a fake "private" party, again not notified nor invited to. ;) )

There was a private event at the Club for a well-known company last week (Wednesday, I believe). It was not open to the general public. Not even sure that the company is a marathon sponsor (maybe one of their brands is).

According to friends, the Club was not in use Friday, and I can personally attest it was not open Saturday or Sunday.

Story sounds suspicious, to say the least. In any case, no, the Club has not reopened.
