Can someone tell me a bit of what to expect? Is it a show similar to Hoop Dee Doo Review? I've read the descriptions on various sites, and this is the best I've come up with to try to understand it...am I on track? Is it a fun place, or should we just head to the comedy club? It's DH and my 11th anniversary trip next month! Thanks! :goodvibes

Personally, I would skip the comedy club and go straight the AC. The comedy is better, and the show goes on all evening.

Far more interactive than Hoop-De-Doo. In a nutshell, there is a main salon (with a bar) and three attached rooms. Throughout the night, characters perform scripted skits in the attached rooms--a bit like Hoop-De-Doo, but the smaller crowd allows for more interaction, and, to be honest, the humor is more adult. (OK, it's been years since I went to HDD, but I still feel comfortable making that generalization.)

However, in the main salon, the characters will just walk around and strike up a conversation with guests. The comedy is pure improv, and the performers will crack you up. They also perform various "ceremonies" throughout the night; not only are you expected to participate, they will mock you if you do not.

I should also mention that there is so much to look at on the walls of the Main Salon that, even if there were no shows, you could still spend an evening drinking there and not be bored.

Definitely worth visiting--you either love it or hate it, there seems to be no middle ground. Don't forget you can come and go as you please, so feel free to leave, take in a show at the Comedy Warehouse, then return. I'm with DisneyDave, tho, AC has better comedy.

My suggestion is to go to the first showing of the comedy club (at like 8PM) I think and then go *straight* to AC. We went later at night to AC and were totally lost. It really does help to get to the beginning show where they explain that place.

the comedy club has been hit or miss for me, but when it was a hit, it was HUGE hit always

Don't miss the Adventurer's Club! There are comedy improv places everywhere, but the Adventurer's Club is unique.

We arrived at AC around 10:00 pm and shut the place down at 1:00 am. We wish we had gone earlier!!! It was fantastic! They have scripts, but there's a ton of improv. The main salon is great, and we did some of the side rooms too.

Sounds like walking into a Firesign Theater album. Never been there but it is on my list of things to do.

Now, how many are asking what the Firesign Theater is?

"Who is he talking too, and how does he make his voice do that?"

Exactly, it's not "give us a random noun and we'll make up a blues song" improv (not that there's anything wrong with that, CW does that style quite well). It's very character-driven; the lecherous aviator or cheapskate treasurer will just wander over and strike up a conversation with someone, and the comedy builds from there organically. Which is an egghead way of saying it gets really funny. :teeth:

We loved it! And in typical Disney fashion, not a tiny detail is overlooked...for example, when you get in to the bar area, for example, keep your eye on the ship in the bottle!! It was a hilarious show...we're going back in December...don't miss it!!

I have to agree with the other posters. AC is much more than in improv show. It is so much fun from the moment you walk in & you don't want to leave!

I have always described it as a combination between an early 20th Century British Explorer's Club and Mad Comics/Magazine (from its prime in the 50s and 60s), stirred by Calvin and Hobbes!

The AC is amazing!!!!! Each show is different from the next. My DBF and I went 3 times on our last trip and we can't wait to go back. I would certainly skip the Comedy Club, BORING!!!!!! :confused3 :confused3

I've never done the Adventure's Club but I have been to the Hoopty Doo and really enjoyed it. It's like a Broadway play while you're dining. The music was fun too. I heard AC is a lot of fun.

The AC is so much fun. We didn't discover it early enough in the evening on our first PI visit, but the bit we saw made us want to come back again, and we spent the entire night there the next time. Like another poster said, there's enough fun stuff happening in the first room you see to keep you entertained, but the main events occur in the library. The cast of characters is the same night after night, but different cast members may play them from time to time. The show starts in the salon, there are several audioanimatronic characters there that interact with the crowd, then everyone moves into the library, once the show is over its back out to the salon, where the fun starts all over again. Try to sit on the barstools that look like elephant legs, more silly fun. :)

The performances start around 7:30 PM. Be aware if you're getting there early that the AC is sometimes booked for private parties and if that happens it can be closed to the public as late as 9 PM.

If you hit a late opening, that is the perfect time to catch a Comedy Warehouse show. On Fridays and Saturdays CW also has a late show which occurs after the performances end at AC.

One of the biggest mistake newcomers make is arriving at the Club between
shows. If there's nothing going on in the Main Salon, something will happen
within 10 minutes.

The shows rotate from the Library, Mask Room and Treasure Room, and each
show is different from the last. The Library shows are well attended, so
if they announce the show is about to start, head toward the doors to get
a seat.

The action that occurs in the Main Salon happens a few times a night.
You'll become members of the Club and learn the club salute, creed, and
all-purpose theme song.

I will park myself there all night long until closing.
