Adventureland needs something..IMO

you know what is weird? I know Dinosaur at AK and Indiana Jones at DL are similar- I think I've read the same track even? But I don't like Dinosaur. I could never ride it again and be just fine. am I alone in this?:confused3

worldneedscolor- I don't blame you for feeling that way. It just isn't the same. Do you love DL It's a Small World? That was a shocker for me at MK, esp the exterior of the ride.

really? I can't imagine! It's in my top two rides. :)

I am also kind of surprised at the PotC comments here, but I've only ridden the MK one once and it was noticeably shorter than the DL one, which I consider a classic that should not be tampered with any further. Also PotC is not in Adventureland in DL. It's in New Orleans Square! So that threw me as well.

Well no New Orleans Square in WDW so that's part of it. WDW's adventureland has a caribbean themed area so it makes more sense to put it there. The imagineers didn't want to make WDW the same as DL park wise and attraction wise. Sorry WDW history tangient. In fact WDW wasn't even supposed to have Pirates but east coast visitors insisted.

I like much of Adventureland the way it is Thank you very much. I would love a Indiana Jones ride addition and also to return the meet and greet area pack into a restaurant ala Sunshine Seasons over in Epcot.

I don't want them to remove any of the rides but I agree it could do with 1 or 2 additions. I really only has 3 rides along with the TreeHouse and the Tiki Room

My friend and I have always discussed that if you took the wonderful spacious Adventureland of WDW, threw in a little more tropical foliage like Disneyland's and added IJA from Disneyland, you'd have the ideal Adventureland :goodvibes

Of course, that's not really feasible - just a nice thought!
I quite love both WDW and DL's, for very different reasons. But sometimes I do wish Indy was at Disney World too, mind you.

I doubt that there is enough room in Adventureland to put a big ride like Indiana Jones.

I don't think the Indiana Jones attraction from DL would work well in WDW's Adventureland because it is too similar to Dinosaur over in Animal Kingdom. Disney does have some repeat attractions though (Carpets, Dumbo, Astro Orbiter, and the flying dinos in Animal Kingdom).

I've heard this argument from a lot of people. But if Disney felt the same way, we wouldn't get ANY new attractions. No new 3-D attractions because we already have Philharmagic, ITTBAB, Muppets and Captain EO. No new water rides because we already have Splash Mountain and KRR. No new coasters because we already have RNRC, Space Mountain, BTMRR, etc...

My kids were 7 and 8 our last trip and loved the treehouse.

We made a point to read the book together as a family for a few weeks before going and then bought and watched the movie. We're planning on reading Tom Sawyer before our next trip.

I've only ridden Dinosaur once. I hated it and will never waste time on it again if I can help it.

I LOVE DINOSAUR!!! It is a little scary, I admit. My best friend and sister HATE going on with me, but they do it anyway...

We were at MK yesterday with minimal crowds, etc able to do all the rides. I think Adventureland could use something... Not sure even what. The old tiki show is SO so bad (I know it is a classic) and the jungle cruise is just ok, Swiss family tree house I love... But has anyone under the age of 35 even heard of the movie? I would love to see them remake the movie with a modern touch. Imagine teens stranded with no screens..lol.

Am I the only one tht thinks this area of the park is lacking something? I LOVE mk, I really do.. But that area seems like it could be so much better!

Just wanted to comment. I have 4 kids. They all LOVE the movie Swiss Family Robinson! It is actually DS' (9) favorite movie of all time. He would watch it every day if I let him. I am disappointed that DL changed theirs to Tarzan's tree house. Now that is lame, and I would love them to change that. I hope they never change the treehouse at WDW. I am sure my kids are not the only youngsters who find the original movie endearing, funny, and perfect the way it is.

Take out the Magic Carpets (MK already has Dumbo) and there's a little bit of room for something else there. Certainly not an Indy ride, though, unless other things were moved around to make space for it. Anyway, DHS is probably a better fit for it. Maybe do some kind of tie-in with the Indy show.

However, the Magic Carpets is the only thing in Adventureland I don't view as a must-do attraction there. Our family does almost everything else there is to do in Adventureland, including the treehouse, POTC, Jungle Cruise, Dole Whips, and Tiki Room. All are parts of MK that have been cherished by people my age and over for over 40 years now. Other parts of MK may need updating (especially when parts of Tomorrowland start to look dated), but IMO, Adventureland is done pretty well already.

I LOVE Jungle Cruise :goodvibes. I've been on it in the morning, hot afternoons, through a really bad thunderstorm, and at night. I may have the jokes all memorized, but I still love it! Can't imagine a trip without it I wouldn't be opposed to a new attraction in addition though ;).

I never understand this line of reasoning. Just because they have the same ride mechanism doesn't mean they are similar in any other way. Haunted Mansion and Finding Nemo both use clam shell ride vehicles. This doesn't make them the same ride. Winnie the Pooh and Mr. Toad (I still miss that) are both dark rides, but they weren't identical experiences.

I've ridden both IJ and Dinosaur. Can't say I was terribly reminded of one while I rode the other one.

May be something that no one agrees with, but what about taking Jungle Cruise to Animal Kingdom (use that water around there for something). Then you would have room there to put another ride of some sort (like Indiana Jones as others have mentioned) in Adventureland. Just a thought.....:confused3

Adventure land in the MK without the Jungle Cruise...come on.....

Adventure land in the MK without the Jungle Cruise...come on.....

I know, I know.....I just think it is a natural (pardon the pun) in the Animal Kingdom and they have all that "swampy" water there doing absolutely nothing............ Plus I think AK could use more "rides" of some sort. I realize it is a mainstay at Adventure Land and it would never happen, but just in the realm of this thread....a thought.

How about retheming that treehouse into an Ewok village?

I don't know. I read in a Walt Disney biography that he originally wanted Jungle Cruise to have live animals and to be a serious kind of water safari, almost like Kiliminjaro Safaris is now on land. But due to cost, unpredictable nature of wild animals, etc. he was convinced to go with AA animals. I think he really wanted an Animal Kingdom park eventually, but just didn't live long enough to see that happen.

I don't think they should change anything in re the AA animals, even if it moved. I love the ride with the bad puns by the CMs, etc. Moving it to somewhere in AK, with all that space they have and so comparatively few rides, makes some sense. Not all of Animal Kingdom's attractions feature live animals, so it wouldn't violate any precedents. And it would open a HUGE area in MK to put something else in its place. All while keeping a major and nostalgic attraction within the WDW complex. I bet the only major reason this hasn't been done already is the undoubtedly huge cost.

Besides the new/old Tiki Room being boring and Aladdin being completely out of place, Adventureland is fine the way it is.

I'd like to see something done with Tom Sawyer island.. Seriously, what a waste of space..
