We recently purchased pts. at OKW. I have noticed that many people have pts. at more than one resort. What is the advantage of this?

Also, a few more questions about it....

--After you purchase pts. at your home resort if you want to add another 50 or more pts. do you have to add them to your home resort purchase or can you purchase that small amount at another DVC location?

--If you can purchase the small amount at another DVC resort is that also considered a "home" resort for you? (like a 2nd home resort)

--If it is also considered a home resort, can you combine the 2 pt. packages & book 11 months out at either home resort or would you need to book at 1 resort with 1 pt. package & then wait for the 7 month window to try & use the other pt. package?

I hope this makes sense. We just have a lot of questions now about DVC & this is always best place to get them answered.

The advantage is that you will have the 11 month reservation priority at each resort.

You can purchase as few as 25 points as an add-on thru Disney and they may be purchased at any resort available for sale. DVC usually insists on having the same use year for the add-on. Add-ons purchased thru resale can have any use year.

You will have the 11 month priority only for the points owned at each resort, but points may be combined for a reservation at 7 months.

If you have found a resort you'd like to have more control over when a reservation is available, an add-on may offer the reassurance you're looking for to get those reservations.

Enjoy!

points at 2 DVC resorts..........NOT for us. We only get down to WDW every 1-2 years; when we go, we wish to stay at BWV. IF we could travel more often, we would consider points elsewhere for the variety. I would say that we've had no trouble booking OKW at the 7 month window. HH would be great sometime, but I realize that we'd have to travel there off-season

For the reasons that Doc has stated, we have points at two resorts. One reason we bought VB was because we actually had a hard time booking cash ressies there. As more on-site DVCs are built, VB & HH will be harder to get at the 7 month window.

Good luck.....

We've got almost equal points at two resorts for slightly different reason....we just like them both a lot!!

Our plan is to alternate years between the two resorts. We will bank one resort and borrow for the other so we can get the 11 month advantage for an entire stay at one resort.

We like having 1 on-site (OKW) and 1 ocean front(VB), so to get the 11 month window at both.:D

We have points at OKW and BWV. The only reason is that OKW was sold out when we decided to add the additional points. Having multiple sites is generally fine, except when you want to use your entire amount for a longer or larger stay, then you are forced to deal with the 11 month vs. 7 month window issue. Personally, I'd prefer to have all my points at a single resort.

We have three home resorts (OKW, BWV, BCV)........ Why? For the 11 month booking window....... We do a lot of banking and borrowing for each resort so we have enough points for the 11 month window.

We did get a ressie at BWV only 4 months out though..... some times of the year it is easy to book on short notice, others it is imposible.....

We have also had wonderful success with the waitlist.......

:::::::: knocking on wood ::::::::::::

I do recomend if you go the two resort way, that you get both resorts in the same UY...... makes things a lot eaiser....

Good luck with your decision and keep us posted!
