advantages of hopping

what are the advantage to park hopping?? What are the draw backs to hoppng?

I love to be able to hop, during the preview days I enjoyed hitting DCA then going to DL for the kids them coming back and seeing DCA at night. Being a Electric Light Parade fan I will enjoy going each night during our trip to see EP, then going back to DL for a while longer.

I think the best thing about hopping is that if one park is pretty crowded you can go to the other park in hopes that it is not as crowded. We did this a lot at WDW, especially on EE days.

Hopping is great at Disneyland.

Since we were just there for some of the busiest times of the year...Disneyland would get OVER crowded.

We found what worked best was to spend the morning at Disneyland. Even getting there by 8 was a great help. We would stay until about 12 or 1. Then we would head to DCA. Get fast passes for Screamin, or use single rider line. If it is hot....the water ride lines will be long.

In the evening.....we would head back to Disneyland.

With this plan we were usually able to do all the rides in both parks (at least the ones we were interested in, in one day).

We enjoyed doing EE at DL and then letting the crowd flood in and then going across the way to DCA. It was fantastic to watch the mass of humanity enter into DL. I wish I would have had a video camera so I could have taped it. I got a great picture though of the people on Main Street behind me.

We also used DCA (California Screamin' in particular) to bribe DSD(9) and DSS(8) to behave. We always promised a ride on Screamin' before heading back for our afternoon break or right after our afternoon break, even if it was a DL day.
