Advantage No Longer Onsite

I just returned a rental to Advantage today at the airport. I pull in to their area and there is absolutely nobody around. Finally found a handwritten sign that Hertz will close out my rental. I get up to the Hertz desk and the lady informs me that Advantage is no longer onsite since the sale from Hertz has been completed, but they are closing out current rentals as a courtesy. According to her, they have been turning people away who had rentals beginning after the period when they officially moved (not sure when that was) and making them drive to Advantage's new location to close out their rental.

Thought people who made a reservation through this company would like to know this so they can make other arrangements.

THANK YOU so much for this information. I'm canceling my Advantage reservation now. No shuttle bus for me!

A rental car shuttle is not necessarily a bad thing. For many years, Hertz at MCO was off-airport, before they moved back into airport. The Hertz shuttles were dependable, frequent, and actually meant not having to carry bags very far.

My bigger concern about Advantage is that the sale of the Advantage brand to new owners was done in haste, suggesting the possibility of serious service missteps until the everything gets worked out with the new operations. The new employees and new systems have not had a chance to settle in. For this reason alone, I would be reluctant to use Advantage.

Along similar lines, I would be reluctant to use Dollar and Thrifty, newly acquired by Hertz, until at least a few months have passed.

I agree with the PP to a point. Advantage was sold to the company who owns U-Save Car and Truck Rental. AFAIK it's franchise only. I'd wait before I'd use Advantage. I have no idea how integrated Advantage in Orlando was with Hertz. In other words I don't know if the employees and cars stayed with Hertz. Sold in haste? The sale was announced in August. Four months.

Hertz has been in the car rental business a long time.:) I have confidence they'll be able to handle issues with Budget and Thrifty.
