Absolutely! Come on over...let me introduce you to my new friend Barbara. She'll be on stage next doing a medley from "Funny Girl." Then we'll have to sit through Linda Ronstadt's set, but I heard that Springsteen's closing the night so definitely stick around!

Actually he can't. He was smart enough to skip the physical so that he didn't have to.

:rotfl: Are you actually saying that Bush never learned how to fly jets and also never flew them?? He sure did fly them in Texas just not when he transferred to Georgia. Talk about mis-information.

That line won my very first ROTFL!!:teeth:

Yep, me too! But then again, it pays to have a rich daddy with clout.

And no, he cannot fly jets and couldn't fly them before he ever got that early out from the NG.

I'm not an expert on this and maybe he cannot legally fly them now without a refresher course or a physical but he certainly flew them in the NG. I said fly instead of flew (in my original post), is that what you have a issue with? He absolutely flew jets in the NG.

You said "can fly jets". I don't know, maybe it's just me, but that says that he can currently fly jets. He cannot and he could not for quite some time before he took an early out from the NG.

He had his license revoked before he ever left the NG.

I'm not saying this just to get people all riled up, but it truely amazes me that people support Bush at all. He's truely one of the worst presidents we've had for a while. He's done damage that will take decades to correct - if we can ever do so.

Nothing personal, but it will take a lot more than prayer for Bush to find any wisdom.

Kerry may not be the best person for the job, but his bulb is quite a bit brighter than the other choice.

BTW, I have to agree with you on this. It's not difficult to guess I didn't vote for him in 2000 but I have to admit in the days immediately following 9-11 I was impressed with his leadership and I supported our going into Afghanistan. He had a real opportunity to have overwhelming international support in the war on terror. However, once he started with "you're either with us or against us" nonsense my opinion quickly went south. I'm still amazed that he has almost single-handedly destroyed our relationship with our allies and made quite a few enemies of top of that.

Sounds great!

Who gives a rip about flying jets?

FOUR MORE YEARS!!!

All I was saying was it surprises me that some think our President is dumb when he used to fly jets in the NG, went to Yale, was Governor and then became our president. I certainly didn't mean to imply he could fly them now, although I thought he did fly one that infamous day he said "Mission Accomplished"?

I just think he's smarter than others do, obviously.

Nice Try.

Those that fly in the military do not have licenses.

& I betcha' he COULD fly today. Maybe not that WELL, but he could. It's been 10 years since I last flew & I'm confident I could do it again right now.

He's done damage that will take decades to correct - if we can ever do so.

Such as? As PG is want to say, "Please post a verifiable link with your facts"

Piss off the French & Germans? Big Whoop. They are constant "wannabe's" on the world stage & have little influence outside their own borders.

Make the world more "dangerous" for us? ha.

Piss off the terrorists? Ditto on the Big Whoop. Hopefully "pissed off" is followed by "short life span".

Whatever. What's the point? I have an opinion that you don't become President of the US if you are dumb and it just surprises me that others think you can. I really don't want to debate my opinion any further.

Such as. . .

Did Bush lie to us about having been warned Bin Laden was going to attack in the US?

Yes.

Did he lie about planning to invade Iraq before he became president?

Yes.

Did he say yesterday the war on terror could never be won and then today flip-flop and say we're winning it?

Yes.

Did he play dress-up and show up in his "Top-Gun" costume and declare Mission Accomplished. . and then when more and more kids kept getting killed in Iraq did he blame the banner on the sailors on the ship instead of admitting his people put it up there?

Yes.

Did he tell the American people he was going to call for a vote in the UN on the Iraqi invasion no matter what the result to make other countries "put their cards on the table" and then two days later withdraw the petition without a vote?

Yes.

Did he say we were going to go in and disarm Saddam and then leave and let the Iraqi people govern themselves anyway they wanted and then refuse to hold elections when cleric Al Sistani ask for them?

Yes.

Did he have Haliburton sitting in Kuwait with an open-ended no-bid contract while telling the American people he was trying to avoid military action in Iraq by using deplomacy?

Yes.

Did he promise tax cuts saying it was because the surplus Clinton left the country showed it was fine to give us some money back and then take that surplus and run it into a record debt and claim tax cuts were needed to stimulate the economy?

Yes.

Did he take money congress appropiated for Afghanistan and divert it to the invasion of Iraq without telling them?

Yes.

Did he write the Attorney Generals office asking for ways to avoid penalties for torturing prisoners of war?

Yes.

Did he refuse to cooperate with investigations concerning suspected 9/11 accomplices and because of that they walked free?

Yes.

Does he deserve another term as our President?

Hell no!

What was his score?? FYI, it was 1260. Well into the 95% +. Did being GHWB's kid help him get in? Probably. But it didn't help him get OUT.

The liberal icon, the late Senator Paul Wellstone scored less than 900.

Bill Bradley is reported to have scores >485 on the verbal portion. Oh, BTW, he graduated from Princeton. Wonder who pulled strings for him?

BTW, what were Kerry's SAT scores??

Ex-Lawmaker Says He Helped Bush With Guard

Sunday August 29, 2004 4:31 AM

DALLAS (AP) - Former Texas House Speaker Ben Barnes said he is ``more ashamed at myself than I've ever been'' because he helped President Bush and the sons of other wealthy families get into the Texas National Guard so they could avoid serving in Vietnam.

``I got a young man named George W. Bush into the National Guard ... and I'm not necessarily proud of that, but I did it,'' Barnes, a Democrat, said in a video clip recorded May 27 before a group of John Kerry supporters in Austin.

Barnes, who was House speaker when Bush entered the Guard, later became lieutenant governor. "
