At the Opening of GOP Convention, Currents Shift Toward Bush
Analysis

By Gary Langer

Aug. 30, 2004— The ice in the river is thick, but the currents have moved in President Bush's direction.

As his nominating convention kicks off, an ABC News/Washington Post poll shows Bush has erased most of John Kerry's gains on issues and attributes alike, retaking a sizable lead in trust to handle terrorism, moving ahead on Iraq and battling the Democratic presidential nominee to parity on the economy — the three top issues of the 2004 campaign.

Bush also has reclaimed an advantage in being seen as more honest and trustworthy, bolstered his rating for strong leadership and moved to a 10-point lead as better qualified to serve as commander in chief, erasing Kerry's edge in the latter after his convention late last month.

I'm just waiting for the libs to jump on this thread and tell you why you're not really seeing that, it's only a phase, we have a ways to go (definitely true), the poll is wrong, etc., etc. But Bush definitely has the "Big Mo" going into this convention, he'll have more coming out of it, but then he still has to sustain the lead for a couple more months until the actual election. I must say, though, I've been liking what I've been hearing from the convention speakers so far--and it's only Tuesday!

This upswing in voter support was predicted in the news due to the timing of the GOP convention, was it not? It's still along way from November. I hope GWB can keep the advantage.

Heck, it's still too soon to worry about Hurricane Frances, I can't start worrying about the election yet.

:cloud9: Thanks for the encouraging news charlie!

Pres. Bush has been in my daily prayers for wisdom from above to lead our country, for his health, protection etc.

I have asked the Lord to pick the best man for the job and I believe it will be our President once again!!

How do I know this? Because God always answers my prayers! ;)

I truly believe that after his next term ends he will go down in history as one of the best presidents ever!! IMHO of course!:D

Just a short note from the opposing side:

I'm not saying this just to get people all riled up, but it truely amazes me that people support Bush at all. He's truely one of the worst presidents we've had for a while. He's done damage that will take decades to correct - if we can ever do so.

Nothing personal, but it will take a lot more than prayer for Bush to find any wisdom.

Kerry may not be the best person for the job, but his bulb is quite a bit brighter than the other choice.

No offense taken Doug123. I should not expect you to understand the power of Almighty God or the power of prayer... thus you would not be able to have any wisdom or understanding from above whatsoever LOL.

This is indeed good news. Thanks for the post! I thought McCain & Giuliani were great last night, I can't wait to hear everyone tonight!

I am most enthusiastically voting for President Bush.

Bush has a long way to go before he gets as bad as Carter was.
I too pray for Bush and think he will get reelected. He is probably farther ahead than the polls reflect. I heard on a news show that most polls are conducted innercity, where more Democrats are. GO BUSH!!!!!!

You've to to be kidding!!!!!! I just hope they burn all the videos and newspapers his quotes have appeared in then.

My prayers to Almighty God are going to Kerry!
So who will God Almighty choose?

I don't know Bobbles? Hey Charlie? Ya got a poll on that? ;)

I like your elephant Dan! :p He's cute!

How do we know Doug doesn't know God or the power of prayer? Did I miss something? Or is it because he's a liberal??
Or a Democrat?  :earseek:

Oh well. I guess I'm clueless about the power of Almighty God too. I suppose if I find myself among the burning fires of damnation because I voted for John Kerry, I'll just have to take consolation in finding all my favorite people there with me. Maybe they'll even give me the corner table right up front where I can watch The Dixie Chicks in style. ;)

Rudy was great last night...I missed most of McCains speech though.

Save me a seat! I'll buy the first round! LOL!

Well, since you'll be in hell you're more likely to be listening to Michael Moore sing than the Dixie Chicks.

Thanks for posting!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

It amazes me that someone who some think is so dumb can fly jets, become Governor, and then become our President. Wow!
