I know this is probably a stupid question but....How far in advance can you purchase your tickets? We're not going until 2012 but I was wondering if we could buy our tickets now so we can save some $$. :confused3

Not a stupid question at all. You can purchase tickets anytime in advance, regular tickets do not have an expiration date until they are used. Also its a good idea if you know FOR SURE you are visiting to purchase by mid summer, Disney has mad a trend of raising ticket prices the first weekend or so in August so buying your tickets now may save you a few bucks.

If you plan on staying on property or are interested in diong a package with disney such as a room and dining package you will not be able to purchase tickets in advance. The packages require tickets to be purchased with them. So if you are interested in possibly staying on property it would be best to wait. If you know for sure you are not staying on property or already have reservations off property then you are good to purchase.

You can buy them today. Unused tickets are valid in perpetuity as long as you can present the media.

you can buy them any time as long as you dont use them they stay good indefinatly

but if you decide to book free ddp or want ddp you may have to buy a single day ticket when you book

Thanks for the responses!

So, do you think it would be worth it? Since we would not be going until October 2012, we would miss two price increases (assuming they will be done in August). I will have to buy tickets for 2 adults and 2 children so it will not come cheap no matter what. If I do it now, I'll have to scrape up the $$$ to do it. If it's not that much of a savings, I might want to wait. ????

Buy what you can now, and save to buy the rest next year before that increase. No sense in going into debt now to get something you don't need until next year.

Amazing how you can miss the obvious! I haven't any considered breaking it up! :rotfl:

As much as I love DW, I would never go into debt to go there. At least, I don't think so...;)

In August 2010, Disney raised ticket prices by around an average of 3% for adult tickets and 8% for child's tickets.

IF the same increases happened in 2011 and 2012, using 4 Day Base Tickets as Examples:

Adult 4 Day Base, currently $232 would be raised to $239 in 2011, and $246 in 2012.
Child 3 Day Base, currently $209, would be raised to $225 in 2011, then $243 in 2012.

So again, IF the above scenario happened, you would be looking at a total of about $96 in savings if you bought the tickets now.

But I don't even know if those price increase percentages were similar in the last few years. So the next two years, ticket prices might go up by less than 3% and 8%....or more. No one except Mickey really knows. ;)

So is the POTENTIAL of saving an UNKNOWN amount worth it to you? Only you can decide that.

Since you are in no rush, you might want to consider signing up for the mousesavers dot com newsletter.

It comes out on the 15th of every month, and there will be a discount link to Undercovertourist. It is not a huge huge savings, but every bit helps. I don't think we are allowed to post the pricing here, so you'd have to sign up. Not sure if you'd make it for this month or not though...but the discounts are usually the same.

Alot of people on DISboards have used them, myself included. Reputable company, fantastic customer service....you know, the kind that actually answers the phone when you call :worship:

Undercovertourist even comes here to post sometimes. You can probably find some info through the search.

The tickets you get from them are just like if you bought at Disney, and can also be added to your roomkey if staying on property.
