Has anyone ever done the DAS pre-registration with a "surprise" trip? My child has gotten a DAS pass for years, but we can't mention the trip in advance as she becomes obsessive and anxious until it actually happens. We have always registered in the parks, but I was considering trying to do it before we arrive for our next trip to DL. What do they say in the video chat, anything revealing to the kid? If I mention that we haven't spoken about the trip yet to the CM before I bring my child in, would they have to say anything that will give it away?

I haven't tried the online registration (the anxiety of it makes my condition worse) but you can do it up to two days before your trip, if that helps? So there would only be one day between the registration and the trip.

The cm I had were nothing thst said Disney CM and had nothing Disney in the back ground. If you can make up an excuse for her to see this person then you should be fine

I did this a few weeks ago with my brother. I explained in the chat that I hadn't told him. I was able to tell my brother I wanted to keep his "return time pass" active so we had to chat with a CM to do that (not sure if you can get away with this). She mentioned she had a Haunted Mansion background and asked if that is ok? It was for us. Since we were renewing, she really only needed him to be on camera to take a quick picture. Then she asked him if he was done or wanted to chat more. He said he was done and she and I selected the advance attractions. This was DL for what it is worth, but she was wonderful at not mentioning dates or anything to my brother.

Be aware that the CM may ask (on camera) what concerns you have with waiting in lines, even if it is a renewal. My daughter has had DAS since it began and we’ve renewed twice on video chat. The CM asked that same question each time (but didn’t say anything about Disney in the question).

Thankfully for me, that alone wouldn't be a problem. The CM also asked most questions ahead of time (I also specified my brother struggles to talk in a way others can understand, so that may have been why). But I mostly just didn't want him to know about our actual planned days and got away with the "we just need it active in case I surprise you with a trip". It won't work forever for us, because he will eventually figure that out, too haha!

I just want to say that you’re not alone!! I surprised my younger daughter a few years ago with a Disney trip by telling her we wanted her to open some birthday presents early… of course all of them were Disney/trip related… 😉 and then I asked her where she’d like to wear her new dresses ?? 😏 We were on a plane just a few hours later!! Her stressing (& asking a million Q’s!) just adds stress for me, so this made it very fun for both of us 😁🥳

As to the video chat- they actually asked to see the person registering for DAS at the beginning of our conversation. They insisted. Now, this was for my adult daughter (& she knows about her trip)… but just be aware that they may not let much talk happen if your daughter isn’t present. YMMV. As others have mentioned, there was no Disney background or music with the CM I chatted with… but we obviously needed to discuss what makes it difficult to wait in a standard queue.

Best of luck! I hope your planning & trip all go well 🤩

I did this recently they just wanted to see my daughter for a photo and didn't say anything while she was on camera. I brought my laptop into the room with another browser open so she couldn't even see the video window. Just chat with the person in advance and hopefully they'll be able to work with you!

The cast member took a photo of my son and then told him he was “welcome to go” while we chatted. While he knew what was going on, we could have done it without him knowing any details.
