DH and I just got back from a trip using the DDP. I have a trip planned with our girls in January and now I'm contemplating adding the DDP on to the trip. I just want to clarify something -

The credits are not set to a person, but as a whole to the room, correct?

BUT, I would need to view the adult and child credits as separate?

I ask, cause there will be a night DH and I will be using two credits each for dinner while the kids go to one of the clubs.

ALSO, on the receipts will it show how many child credits are left in addition to the adult credits left or will it lump them together?

Thanks!

The credits are set by room and the receipts do not differentiate between child and adult just give you a total remaining.

We used the dining plan, my card said 1A/2C, but didn't share credits or try to maximize in any way. Not sure that I personally would be comfortable with using child credits as adult but I did want to answer your questions.

HI from the uk
I have purchased the ddp and I did read in the unofficial guide that it is sometimes advised to pay for the kids meal and save the credits if you and your partner want an extra mealout somewhere.I know my friend did it.Her room was given 42 main meals 42 snacks and 42 entree's.At epcot she ate in mexico and used 2 full credits for her and her husband and paid 8 dollars for the child meal, this leaving a full meal on the dining plan.Perhaps it is a bit crafty but a 4 year old will not eat a 3 course meal so you may as well make the most of it!! :Pinkbounc :wizard:

good luck anyway

The whole lumping child and adult credits together is fairly controversial, and there is great speculation that Disney will begin separating them in the future. While recent reports show it's not happening yet, it is expected in the future and COULD be in place by January (Note - I have no direct knowledge and you should refer all such questions to Disney etc. etc.)

Yes, someone was kind enough to PM me about this. I did not realize this was a controversial topic. I will be happy to be the last to post on this. I appreciate PMs with suggestions, though! (Including who I could email at WDW regarding my situation, is there someone who directly deals with DDP?)

My problem was simply DH and I have Flying Fish ressies that require two credits and we're paying outside the plan for the kids to go to the Sandcastle Club that night which includes their dinner. Course, this totally messes up the balance of credits for our trip - DH and I will then have two less credits for TS while my kids will have have two left over.

It does not mess up anything it simply means your children will have TS credits left that you do not have.

When they get ready to use those later in the trip, if you do have any of your adult ones left, simply pay out of pocket as you did for them when they were not dining with you.
