Adults only stay at Value?

Hi All,

For the past 4 years my boyfriend and I have taken a short (between 4-5) night trip to the world for the Food and Wine Festival. We've stayed at either the Swan or Dolphin each time. We love that resort for it's proximity to EPCOT, the fun nightlife at it's various bars, and the Boardwalk. Definitely great for adults.

We are moving this summer and between new furniture, deposits and movers, money is tight. And fall prices and the S&D are high right now. I am considering staying at a Value. I am hesitant for a few reasons... not as nice, kind of far away, no real restaurant or nightlife. Reasons I am considering: We would save about $350 on the reservation, no $14 ($74) resort fee, and free transportation from the airport ($110). That all adds up!

Are there any adults who have stayed at a Value with no kids? I would appreciate your thoughts on your stay. Are there certain Values you would suggest for us?

I appreciate any and all feedback!

Allison

Maybe prices will fall if I book last minute.

Hello! My husband and i have stayed at POP the last two times we have been to WDW. We love it. The resort is clean, the pools are great. Yeah, it is a 15 min drive to MK, but you don't share a bus with anyone else. The lines are never terrible. If you do stay, request a room in the 60s facing the water. You can see the EPCOT fireworks sometimes :) PS: The pool bar by the 60s pool is great. Expensive, but a lot of fun!

My friends and I don't have any children and stay at Value all the time - Pop is our favourite as well :)

I think what it really comes down to is how much time you plan on spending in the room. I'm going on a 4 day solo trip and plan on being out for the bulk of it, so to save money on the room (and have money to upgrade to DxDP) I went for Pop. On my last trip, I was with someone else and we had a good amount of downtime and would have killed each other in a room at Pop.

DH & I went to Pop in 2006 pre-kiddos and we were total park commandos- pop worked well for us.

Hi! My DH and I stayed at ASSports three years ago and we loved it. We are staying there again in August. It's convenient, the first bus stop to be picked up and dropped off, and definitely a great value! Have fun!

over 65 trips we have stayed all over on property and went to POP 6 years ago and been going there since. we loce it bue service best of any reaort property..going back for #65 October 28 for two weeks. and we have no kids nor grand kids with us

DH and I just got back a month ago from WDW and we stayed at ASMusic. I love all the values whether I am with my two DS or just the DH and me.

In September, we are going on our fourth (2) adults only Disney vacation and staying at Pop for the third time as adults only. We have always had a great time and expect we will this time too!

I'm a person that can feel comfortable staying in all kinds of different settings, as long as things are reasonably clean. I don't mind lots of kids running around, and we've found that the Computer Pool and Bowling Pin Pool are relatively quiet. We also like the Food Court selections and Petals Pool bar for some adult beverages.

The last two years we stayed in a preferred room in the 70's and it was just a short walk to the food court and buses. I can only remember 1 bad bus wait experience the five times we have stayed there. This year I'm anxious to be able to walk over to the AOA resort to check it out.

The staff has always been friendly and efficient (well, except maybe a little slow in the food court at times) and we are hoping to get the same CM Housekeeper, Maria, for the third year in a row. She's so nice and always left us lots of extra towels because she knew we liked to spend time at the pool. While I know the EPCOT resorts would be ideal for the Food & Wine Fest., if you need/want to save a little money, I would recommend staying at PoP. :thumbsup2

We went as adults and stayed at All Star Movies. It was our first resort stay and I loved being surrounded in disney there. I never felt out of place because I didn't have children. Everyone was super. We also went during a time that wasn't crowded. I would do it again if I needed to save some money too

I stayed at Pop when I did a girls only trip. It was a very pleasant stay. The bus service was great, the food court was nice, and the room was great for just 2 of us.
However, I was spoiled for so long by all my previous stays in deluxe disney before this stay (always doing BC). I missed the walk to epcot and the boat to DHS. I missed having towels and more swimming space at the pools. I missed the restaurants we had so close (BC/YC/BW/Swan/Dolphin) all to choose from. I missed having a balconey and an elevator ride to get coffee in the am (whereas pop it was a 10 min walk).
Was Pop great for the price? YES! Couldn't have been happier. But did I miss deluxe? yes. So just be aware that you might miss the amenities you've gotten used to in your previous stays. And at least with staying at a value you now get to take advantage of DME.

Adults only who stay at All Star Music & love it!

We really only use it as a place to sleep, shower, leave the clothes. We hop one of the 1st buses out in the morning & can easily be gone 12+ hours. The pool is ok if you like, nothing fancy, but a good time with music & activities. The food court can be crazy crowded for breakfast time, but I have walked in/out early (pre 7am) without a line. Same for dinner I am sure if you go at prime time...although sometimes we take our food back to our room to eat if we come back late. We've never had issues with the busses or ME, but we also allow an hour to go somewhere & realize it's a free service. 99% of the time we have a bus just for our resort & don't have to share stops. The room is simple & clean. The theming is cute.

I am thrilled...got a great room only 30% for the upcoming trip! If we couldn't get the room discount we probably wouldn't be going.

My husband and I just booked a studio villa at AKL for close to the cost of staying at a value resort. We used David's Vacation Club Rentals. You can also add the DDP and ME to your stay. We were very impressed with this service! :)

My husband and I (33 and 39 respectively) have no children and love Pop and stay there all the time, when we are only going for a few days and aren't in the room much.

DH chose a Cars Suite at AoA for our upcoming trip in Aug/Sept.

My boyfriend and I (both 26) have stayed at Pop every year since 2008! We love it there. This year we are trying Art of Animation.

I think you will like it, it is so nice having all of the Disney amenities. I can't justify spending more right now when we only do the parks right now.

If you do stay at Pop request a room that is on the back end of the pool so you don't here noise late at night and if you see you have a connecting room switch out! It is very loud in those connecting rooms.

I've stayed at both POP and ASmovies as a solo adult traveler.

Pros:
cheap price, great theming, service was good (great at ASmovies), food courts have plenty of offerings, can use ME and disney buses with no hassles, rooms are clean and so are grounds, pools are nicely themed and fun, quiet pools are available too, plenty of different buildings to select from, mickey soaps :thumbsup2

cons:
beds are rock hard, walls are thin (I could hear people talking, sneezing etc. at POP), lower quality towels, linens, and shampoo, exterior doors (can make it a bit nosier), attracts tour groups during certain times, outside uncovered bus stops (stinks in summer), POP toilets whistle :sad2:

Overall, I felt I got a good deal on my POP room (59/night) over a labor day weekend. I used ME and bought my tickets discounted so I had a very nice weekend trip there. My room at ASmovies was 120 a night which I don't think was worth the price. If you can get a rate of 80 or less per night and use the ME both ways then I think you are getting a good deal. If the rate is over 100 then you might want to consider Swan/Dolphin or one of the DTD hotels. The Holiday Inn is very nice.

Have a great trip no matter what you decide!

We have stayed at all Mods & all Values.

The price of a Value is the best available. We love Pop! :goodvibes
