Yes I know it has probably been asked a million times. I did use the search function and I really couldn't find the answer to what I'm looking for.

I know that on a general day-to-day basis you are NOT allowed to wear costumes as an adult.

I know that during MNSSHP you ARE allowed to wear costumes as an adult.

What I'm trying to find an answer for is: During the MVMCP if you're allowed to wear costumes?? Trying to plan out a few things (because Moonie #1 is just as OCD when it comes to planning as I am)

Much thanks in advance!!!

From what I understand, generally costumes are allowed at the parks as long as they are bad costumes. In other words, if you have a pair of home-made looking Tinkerbell wings on, they're not going to stop you, but if your costume looks good and professional enough that kids might mistake you for a Tinkerbell meet and greet, they will make you change before entering the park. It is kind of a grey area, and the park security has the last word on judging it.

It also probably depends a lot on what your costume is. There are some very elaborate and probably not quite safe costumes that come in for MNSSHP, that would definitely be a no no on an everyday basis. However, if you are wearing outfits that are "inspired by" a particular character, say you're wearing all yellow with a Pluto hat, that shouldn't be an issue. But Disney will always have the last word on whether you get in.

Can you give us an idea what type of costume you are considering?

I don't know if there are any hard and fast rules but I found the following information on Touring Plans:

Is there a costume element to the Christmas party?

Not really. While costumes are a big part of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, they do not play much of a role at the Christmas Party. A few guests may wear Santa hats or festive scarves, but that’s about it. You’ll be in good company if you wear your regular park touring clothes to the party.

Based on that, I would say that it doesn't sound as though many people wear costumes to the Christmas party.

Yeah, MVMCP isn't very costume-friendly, so unless you're just wearing a Santa hat or elf ears or something having to do with the holidays, I think you are out of luck.

Much thanks!!!

It's sad to see so much negativity on other threads about this topic. I'm a Cosplayer which is why I was asking in the first place. Halloween is the perfect event for us.

This 'relaxation' of rules and the way it seems to be open to more interpretation than in past years I think has just made it all that much more confusing. *le-sigh*

Worst case scenario, one less costume goes in the bag and I dig through my closet for some new Disneybound stuff

Last month, there was a young guy, probably in his early twenties, who was dressed head to toe as an elf. Elf hat, ears, felt red dots on his cheeks, elf clothing and the pointy shoes. He kept flitting around the Town Square area before the parade and it was interesting to watch him having such a good time. I don't recall seeing other elves with him and no one, CMs or other guests, were bothered by him.

OP, I say go for it. I highly doubt anyone is going to say a boo to you, even at Christmas. ;)

I wore my Evil Queen to MNSSPH a few years ago but my photos stunk because I was sweating from head to toe. I just don't tolerate the heat well, so have gone back to doing MVMCP. The 7 dwarfs are typically out for that party as well, so I brought it back a couple years later to get the photos I wanted.

I would suggest having a change of clothes along in case there is any issue, but I really doubt there will be.

I asked your question many times before but all I got was a bunch of opinions, nothing firm. I do know they used to allow costumes at the Pirate and Princess party. And they allow them at MNSSHP. So why not MVMCP? It might not be typical, and you're not likely to see a lot of others in costume, but I say go for it.

I thinks its because those are "dress up" parties so they have different rules.

Could be. But I didn't see the words "dress up party" on any of those tickets.

On something like this, I'd ask for forgiveness rather than permission and just have alternate clothing available. What's the harm?

Not on the Tickets but as part of Da Rules.

ETA: Here are Da Rules but I swear it used to have an exception specifically spelling out that the MNSSHP was exempt but with a few extra ones like no full face masks. :confused3

For the Halloween pretty much anything goes as long as its not too gory or has a safety issue like a mask that restricts your vision or weapons that could actually be used as weapons.

How hardcore are you? Are you like Adam Savage or the people in Heroes of Cosplay?

Are you maybe thinking about a full on Krampus costume for the Xmas party? :goodvibes

I thought the only costumes allowed at the Pirates and Princess Party were pirate or princess costumes.

But if the verbage is missing, how do we know it excludes MNSSHP and not "hard ticket parties" in general?

If you look at the party info pages on the Disney site, MNSSHP states "Dress up in your favorite costume" and the page for MVMCP mentions nothing about costumes. While it doesn't say specifically say you can't dress up, I would assume it is not something they felt they need to warn people not to do because costumes and Christmas do not go together.

ETA: the letter that the MNSSHP tickets come attached to outlines the rules for clothing that is acceptable, and from what I could find online (since I haven't been to MVMCP), the letter with those tickets has no such information. To me, that suggests that regular park hour dress codes apply.
