Adults getting autographs?

I hadn't been to Disney in 14 years (used to live in FL growing up and went to WDW a lot) -- we just got back from DL and I am a Disney junkie. My hubby just got a bonus from work and I made him put it in our next Disney trip fund. Can't wait!
Just wondering? Do you as adults get autographs from the characters? My girls got the books and filled them up completely with pictures with characters and their autographs. I found myself wanting to jump in line (wishing I had bought myself an autograph book), but rarely saw adults getting autographs. We went to Ariel's Grotto and had a blast -- when we walked in the hostess said "Mom, be sure to sit in the middle of the booth and put your girls on the end so they can be in the pictures with the princesses." I wanted to jump in all the pics, too LOL!! I know they would not have minded at all -- I'm sure adults do it also. But next time I really want my own autograph book! Is that weird? I became almost obsessed with wanting my girls to meet them all. The only princess we hadn't met was Cinderella -- on our 3rd and last day at the park, my husband spotted her by the castle and it was very early and no one was around her yet. DH yelled "There's Cinderella!" and started booking it over to her. It was hilarious, he caught the fever too. My girls (3 and 6 yrs) had their picture with her and got her autograph and I was holding my baby girl and standing there thinking "I really want my picture taken with her". Cinderella must have sensed this because she said "Let's get a picture with Mom, too" princess:
I wanted to give her a giant hug, but resisted. Those princesses are just darling! When we saw Mickey on an early entry day I almost lost it. Am I obsessed or what??

I'm going a little nutso myself! It's my first trip EVER, and we're taking our two boys. I'm so excited about everything I read and want to do it all! DS5, at least so far, is not nearly so enthusiastic, and I'm afraid if he doesn't want to do what I want to experience through him I'm going to be very disappointed. :sad1:

For instance, I'm going to some effort to cut up pieces of acid-free paper for them to collect autographs, and will be purchasing special Disney albums for each boy. If he doesn't want to collect autographs, I'm going to be a bit put-out! A few weeks ago I was talking about how exciting it will be to meet the characters, and he said (in that "I'm 5 and I already know it all" voice), "Mama, it's just a person dressed in a costume." I'm still hoping he'll be excited once he sees them... :3dglasses

I am 56 yo and I get autographs and/or pictures of the characters every time I go. I especially love Tigger and I usually have Tigger hold my Tigger back pack and get a picture of that. My favorite photo is me hugging Tigger.
DH and I have had our pics taking with Mickey and Minnie.

Disney is for those who are young at heart - so go and be a kid and have FUN :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Not weird at all! Disney is for the young at heart. If you love the characters, go for it! WE went to Disney World in October. We went to the Halloween Party once as a family. Then, I went back by myself the next night to meet all of those charactyers we didn't have time for/run into the night before. I felt a ittle strange at first, but then had a BLAST! I saw many envious stares from others, too. :rotfl2:

On my first 7th birthday trip with my daughter one of my co-workers told me she wanted a souvenir. Since she was covering some of my work while I was gone I told her I would bring her anything she wanted. She asked for a picture of me with Eeyore, Mickey, Cinderella and one with Pooh.

This was the BEST thing as it really made me "play" while I was there. I had a good time posing with the characters, and have one of me kissing Eeyore (her favorite) while he held up a napkin that i had written "Hi Jane!" on.

The characters loved it and came up with some funny things to do. The one of me and Pooh we are both rubbing our tummies. Mickey is pretty ordinary. The one with Cinderella has me checking my makeup while she primps my hair. Too cute and funny. I think they thought it was fun to be able to do some different pictures. :goodvibes

i think i fell in love w/cinderella when i met her on our cruise!! was never really a big fan of cinderella growing up. and we were doing the character/autograph thing w/our DSs. and when we came upon cinderella, i made a comment about how pretty she was, let's go get her autograph & take pix. (our DSs were 4 & 2 at the time...could care less about a disney princess!) anyways, i think they did it just to make mommy happy. well...cinderella spoke!! she said something to the effect of "oh, how cute your boys are!" and i almost died!! her voice was so sweet, just like in the cartoons! i looked at DH, to see if he heard her too. (of course, he thought i was nuts!!) and i wanted to have my pix w/her...but there were other little girls waiting in line. so i had to go. and i wanted to be cinderella for halloween after that encounter!! but couldn't see myself spending all that money for costume.

anyways...long story short...i think disney has a way of making everyone feel so special, adults & children. and we all love to just forget about our everyday responsibilities, and live as children, w/out any care in the world. for just a little while, and have our priorities be getting autographs, chasing down characters, or whatever that pleases you! :flower:

Walt Disney wanted DLR to be a place where children and adults can have fun together at the same time.. I think Walt accomplished his dream of wanting that!
:)

I am 26 and every time I go I get a brand new autograph book and I do the character thing, I stand in line, get their autograph and my picture taken. Its part of the fun of going to disneyland. I wait my turn and also don't get mad if a curious child cuts in front of me.

However, I have encountered a few rude parents that thought I shouldnt have taken up the space in line, that it was for children only, but i ignore those people and just have fun getting my pics taken :)

Ariels Grotto is one of my favs :)

Next time you are there, totally go for it, you will have a blast :)

do you get many Japanese tourists in DL?
there are zillions of them at WDW and they are totally wacko over autographs and pictures.
Many of them have the most beautiful autograph book i've ever seen that they carry around with them.
It's very thick and has a picture of each character in it....and by the picture is the name (in Japanese of course) and a place for the character to sign.
Many of the Japanese tourists to WDW, come with these in hand and try to get as many characters to sign as possible. And of course i mean adult Japanese, since it's mostly adult couples who come.

I always get a picture with the characters as long as there are no kids waiting in the line when I see them, I would never take that experience away from a child even though I am a old f**t child at heart :lmao:

It's unfortunate that some people feel an adult waiting patiently in line for an autograph is 'taking away' from a child's experience! I don't get that. Plus you never know if that adult is getting an autograph for a child or someone back home.

I hope my kids are patient enough to stand in line for autographs; otherwise we might not get any from the sounds of it. I understand the adult Disney fan's exuberance for meeting the characters - As a first time Disney guest myself, I will be just as eager as they are!

See you in line... :earsboy:

I agree with this, i kinda mentioned this in my above post. i am not taking away anything from anyone, if i wasnt in line, then someone else probably would be. :)

Good -- I am glad I'm not the only grown up who loves the characters :lovestruc
Since I have to wait in line with my daughters anyways -- I might as well join the fun and get a pic with the characters, too! Our littlest will be 2 by our next trip -- so I will have 3 girls waiting to see all the princesses, etc!
As for lines to see the characters -- we really lucked out this last time! We happened upon Mickey our 1st day at the park on Main St. on early entry. There was only a 10 min. line (I was amazed). We met most of the princesses at Ariel's Grotto -- happened upon Cinderella on a Saturday morning as soon as the park opened (it was empty -- i guess people sleep in on Saturdays???). We waited about 30 min. to meet Minnie, but my girls didn't mind! In DCA, we met lots of characters with short lines. Also, at Aladdin's storytime in Adventureland (Aladdin's oasis) you can meet Jasmine and Aladdin and the line isn't too long. The same goes for the princess storytime at the Once Upon a time disney princess shop.
thanks for all your responses!
