Adults Getting Autographs: Thoughts?!

My DBF and I are going to Disney World this August!
It's his first trip ever so he really wants to get the full experianc and we got to talking the other day about whether or not we should get autographs from the characters?!!

We want to but we thought it might be weird getting autographs! We are 24 and 22!

Last time I went with my bff we went and took photos and the characters were great but we didnt do the autograph thing!

What do you guys think?! Weird? or not?

I don't think it's weird at all. Getting autographs is part of the whole disney experiance so you should definitly get them! :thumbsup2

I'm so glad to see these posts. We've been to Disney World many times, but this year, at the age of 58, my husband has decided he wants to get autographs. I wasn't too excited about the idea, and he decided he would say they were for his grandchildren....even though we don't have grandchildren. Now I can tell him he can admit the autographs are for him and not seem completely crazy. He really becomes a kid again when he gets to DW, and that's one reason we've been so often. We leave Saturday and will be at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 7 nights to celebrate his birthday, so he's extra excited this year. I got him a Disney shirt saying it's his birthday, he plans to get his birthday button, and he can't wait for his $75 birthday gift card.

I agree with a PP who said there are no adults in Disney, so sure go for it! But please, if they cut the line after you and there is a little one who won't get the autograph, do the parents a favor, spread some Disney magic and give up your place. :goodvibes

I've not gotten autographs, but I've stood in lots of lines to get pics!! I'm 41 and my wife is 38 and we dont have kids but we've got lots of pics with characters. We wont do them as often in future trips, but we sure had fun getting them the first time! People think it's great to see older 'kids' enjoying WDW to the fullest! We did CRT also without kids ;).

Anyone that scoffs or rolls their eyes at us, I just laugh as I find it funny they just dont 'get it' :)

I agree completely, and my husband would never deprive a child of getting an autograph or picture so that he could. We're old, but we still love children and try to spread pixie dust around to the little ones as much as possible. :wizard:

 I wish everyone were as thoughtful. :)

I'm 52 and this past March I had the characters autograph my tote bag. Now I have a great keepsake of our trip. Wish I could of met up with more of them. Although I have to admit it is pretty full.

I think this is the best thing I've ever heard...and it sums it up perfectly! DH and I went to WDW alone a few years ago. We'd never before gotten autographs...so we did it! I couldn't believe it when I saw we weren't the only childless people standing in line. And you know what......DH acted just like a little kid every time we went up to a character! It was sooo adorable! Live a little and get all the autographs you want!!

I did it a few years ago and my family thought it was a hoot! They had their pics made with the characters but drew the line at the autographs. But they encouraged me to get them if I wanted to. I'm 50++! Gotta love the family that supports you no matter what!:lmao:

I actually had this happen to a child that was right behind me. I gave him my spot (he was from the UK and it was his first trip. We have been before and will go again so, what the heck!). When the cast memeber saw what I had done, she took my book behind the fence with them when the characters left and had me wait a minute. When she came back with my book, it had about ten autographs of characters that are hard to find, plus the ones I passed up on to give that child a chance. I just didn't get pics with them. But, hey, it was a win-win for both of us. Like I said, we will go back and have since then. I thought it was exceptionally nice of the CM that got the autographs for me. I didn't expect anything for giving up my spot in line and she certainly didn't have to do that.
