Hi everyone,

We are planning to visit in October on our next trip. Still a couple years away, but many of you are going in 3 months!

Is it common for adults to dress up for MNSSHP? Or is that something that only the kids do? If you are dressing up, what will you go as?

Thanks,
Michelle

We did last year - and we are planning to this year...

last year I was a witch - used my little black dress every woman has in her closet...

This year we are all going as MMC clubmembers...

I have see many other people dressed up too...
Have fun with it!

We did. I was a doctor (scrubs) and my dh was a patient (gown). At first we felt silly, but after awhile, we didn't at all. There were plenty of adults dressed up.

DH and I went in our Disney p.j.'s last year while DD was an M&M and for the next party we all wore our NYG jerseys. A lot of adults dress up.

I went with DH, DS, and BIL in '03. I was a witch, my sister was a pirate, BIL wore his Elvis jumpsuit and DH was a tacky tourist (loud Hawaiin shirt, camera, socks with sandals :) ) We were just talking about our costumes for this year. I am planning to go as Lilo and not sure about DH yet.

Here's my question.. opposite question! The only time I've went was one time and I dressed up- but I didn't pay attention to others. This year I'd rather NOT dress up and I'm wondering if I'm going to stick out like a sore thumb since everyone else including my children will be in costume??

I do not dress up for MNSSHP. Dressing in costume is just not my thing I guess. Even as a little kid everything itched, didn't fit right, I felt silly, etc. I love halloween and all, but I'm just not a dresser-uper! Last year mom sister and I all wore khaki shorts and orange (well think cantloupe orange) tees (so if you consider that dressing up then I did :rotfl: ). This year I plan on something similar. At last years MNSSHP (2nd party) I would say about half or so were dressed up. More kids than adults were dressed up...you will not stick out like a sore thumb.

Thanks... that's great. You gave me the idea- I can just wear a halloween orange shirt and that will be the extent of my dressing up. Will they have Mickey halloween type shirts there? If they did, I'd buy it and wear that. LOL

We went, hubby and I were Jack and Sally from Nightmare, and our adult daughter was Snow White.

yes they do have some Halloween items you can buy or you can always get a Halloween T-shirt at target & old navy cheap, purchase a villain T-shirt in MGM, disney direct always has nice ones sweatshirts too.

When we went in '02. DH didn't dress up. DS and I did. DS was Buzz , I was Minnie Mouse. I didn't feel strange at all. This year, when we go. DS will be a Power Ranger, DD and I will both be Minnie MOuse, and the scrooge (DH) will not dress up. Like others said, its about half and half, either way you won't feel strange.

We haven't dressed up at all, but I say if you want to more power to you!!! :teeth: In fact I love looking at the costumes people wear.

To Costume or Not to Costume is not the question, but to Trick or Treat at the age of 38 and not get into trouble is FANTASTIC!!!! :rotfl2:

:maleficen and where this came from I don't know, but I absolutely love this little smiley!!!

I'd say about half of the adults dress up, and the closer to Halloween, the more people dress up. I don't think you'd feel out of place either way. Me personally, I can't imagine not dressing up. How often does an adult get to wear a costume at WDW?? :) Of course, I'm a sucker for costumes. hehe.

I was wondering about costumes myself as this will be the first time we've been for Halloween.

What are the rules as far as costumes go are you allowed to wear masks or do you have to keep it a bit toned down on the scary stuff?

DH, DD (age 25) and I all dressed up last year and had a blast! We were Hook, Peter Pan and Wendy. There were lots of other "adults" dressed up, but also many who were not. It's part of the magic - you'll be perfectly appropriate no matter which way you go! pirate: princess:

We are planning on being there the first night Sept 30th. I LOVE to dress up, but my dh will not sooooo I bought us some matching Disney Halloween shirts with our names on them. He doesn't know yet that is what he will be wearing that night so it will be a BIG surprize. lol I think that will be about all the dressing up I could get out of him for that night. I am glad that people feel comfortable dressed up or not. Makes everyone feel at home and relaxed. See you there........ :flower1:

We didn't go last year, but did the year before. Dh dressed as a pirate, ds as a hippie. I was pregnant and didn't dress in costume. I wore a Halloween shirt. I felt a little out of place without a costume.

This year will be our first MNSSHP. Hubby and I are going as home renovators - wearing Trading Spaces smocks, tool belts (no real tools), etc. I'm very excited about it!

We do. We don't go overboard. (Last year one evening I was a Mardi Gras guest.) We wear outfits that are not too cumbersome and allow freedom.
The times we have been to MNSSHP it is stil HOT outside. We have seen guests wear heavy full fur costumes and wondered how they lived to tell about it.
