Adults and BBB

LOL, thank God I am not the only one who thinks so. I am not trying to be mean, I just wish that they would do real hairstyles. There is no creativity or uniqueness to the hairstyles. I have done a ton of formal styles and they have lasted all night for my brides/prom girls....even for girls who have very fine straight hair. It's all in the technique and hair product.

And I am sorry, adults looks silly to me with a mini tiara on top of their head and a bun with it slicked back. Slick is so not even close to being in style. :scared1:

And BTW, there are styles that can be done without having to do curls by using a curling iron. Trust me!

It's not anything like a salon, because in a salon you can request anything you want. It would take much longer for a little girl to think up a hairstyle, have us do it, and it wouldn't be efficient for us. We have hairstyles licensed to Disney and that's all they can pick from. It's the most efficient, feasible way to run an establishment like the BBB. I'm sure the styles you're referring to are beautiful, but again they are for proms, weddings, etc. Not a little fun in Disney World. And, if we did regular ol' updos, no one would do BBB because they can do it at home. :goodvibes:

Do they even do braiding... like a french braid, a normal braid some sort of twisted braid around the hairline, a prettier lower bun, a bun that sits on the side,a chignon, a side ponytail???? There are a ton of styles that can be done with just using some spray, a few bobby pins, and no heated tools.

Those can also be done at a salon at home, or at home in general. These styles are licensed for Disney and are different for a reason. Little girls dream of BBB and some save their own money to do the big castle package. What little girl saves that kind of money to have her hair braided at home?

No offense, but a mom can slick her daughters hair into a bun at home, lol. See what I am saying? All of those styles can be easily and I mean easily be done at home. And BTW, some little girls know what they would like, and some don't...majority of the time they don't..they just say make me look like a princess, lol. And then you just think of something and create it. I think that having a book of more than 4 or 5 styles, not sure how many BBB does, would just help to make all the little girls not look the same. Just some variety would be nice.

How long does it take for a little girl to get her hair slicked into a bun? Just curious. Or to put in a ponytail with some extensions, or some slicked twisties? I am sure that they can do a quick braid or something not so slick but more natural looking very quickly. And there is no way that hair that slick and tight is not painful. Styles can easily stay in the hair without being super super slick and tight.

If they added some more sytles, then I think it would be worth the money. But then again, it's all about the experience I guess.

There is nothing different about BBB hairstyles. Really there isn't. A slicked bun is a slicked bun, lol. Twisties are twisties, and a pony tail with fake hair is a pony tail with fake hair. Nothing special or unique about BBB hairstyles. Just saying. I reallt don't see what is sio different or unique about those hair styles.

I wish there were more options too. But we go for the experience more than the end result. Sure I can do a bun at home. And I can even use one of the tiaras from a prior trip. Sash too..... But I can't do it IN the castle! :goodvibes

I agree that we may be able to use MORE styles, but they have to be unique to Disney. We have 3 styles now, and sometimes they sit for five minutes pondering which one they want with only 3! :rotfl: It's the accessories and hair pieces that make it Disney and they can't be done anywhere else. I don't think they will ever have just some braids or anything that simple because it's not unique to them and wouldn't be licensed to Disney. The money is really for what goes in the hair, the products and accessories, and the make-up kit they get to take home. We can do tight styles without it being painful, many princesses speak up and tell us what feels good and bad. I always ask them how it feels every step of the way because I don't want them leaving in pain. The fairytale bun can easily be done in 10-15 minutes, but the total experience is usually about 30 minutes. I'm sure you're a great stylist and can do some beautiful things, but those types of styles aren't what Disney is looking for :flower3:

Maybe the fake hair and the accessories are what make the styles different, but other than that, it's really not. You can go to Claires and buy mini tiaras and fake hair that look similar to BBB. Again, little girls are saving their money for the "experience" not the hair style.

Well, bottom line is........ until they have trouble filling their time slots, I doubt there will be any change.

Exactly. I said that the experience is the most important part earlier on. And I'm saying you can't do exactly that style anywhere else BECAUSE it's licensed to Disney. And it's really not as magical anywhere else anyway. The styles haven't changed too much in the BBB's five year run and it's just as popular as ever right now. I'm done debating this topic because we're going in circles and the only thing that matters is that the girls have fun. princess:

Yeah, it's definitely the experience in the Castle!!! I would have loved it if they had that when I was little.... wouldn't like my hair though, lol.

I get it that Disney does not want it to be like a salon where you can choose a beautiful hair style, but I wish it were.

It's not a debate... just stating the truth when it comes to hair styling, lol. And you really can do that same exact hair style whether it is a Disney licensed style or not, haha. Will Disney sue me if I slick my daughters's hair back in a bun with a mini taira and some glitter??

Not saying that it is not popular and that girls do not love it, I was just talking about the styling. Technical wise, it is nothing special, but the experience is what makes it special to the little girls.

Okay, I apologize in advance if this upsets anybody, but being a hair stylist, I just have to say this.... have you seen the hairstyles, lol? They are not even flattering on little girls let alone adults. Sorry, I am a hair stylist so those "styles" really irk me. They slick, and I mean slick you hair back and make it super tight.

I really wish that they would have real hairstylist working in there who can give little girls real princess hair. The experience is super cute and I know I would love it if I was a little girl, but dang can they fix those hair styles, lol???

I think that you should go and experience it with her, but don't be surprised if your hair looks crazy.

And do brides really get their hair done there?? WOW, just wow, lol. The styles that come out of that place are not bridal at all, lol.

:rotfl:
I think the hairstyles are cute on the kids but I think the adults look like little pea heads (the vegetable) or overdone country singers. To each their own but I think I would prefer going to the barber shop and :laughing:getting all the funky colors etc. I can understand wanting to have the experience with your child completely though. THAT I would love. I just don't want to look like a pea head.;)

Personally I think the little girls with the tight bun and the tiara are priceless and absolutely adorable! Guess I am weird! :rotfl:

And all who say "add more styles" have you ever had a 4 year old girl?? Back in high school I worked in a day care and I used to do everybody's hair before they went home at night (simple stuff- no products involved). It would take the girls an ungodly amount of time to pick the color ribbon or clip or barrette. I always chose the style, but let them pick the color. The color was a BIG decision for them. I cant image giving a little girl the option of different princess looks in a book. The appointment would take hours! :lmao:

I will be 59 this summer and a couple of years ago both DD (24) and I did BBB together... it was the most wonderful experience!! My fairy godmother was pure delight and I have wonderful photos taken throughout the process that I absolutely treasure :goodvibes My favorite is the one where I have one fairy godmother doing my hair while another does my nails :lmao:It was definitely the royal treatment... and as an adult, I don't get a whole lot of that in RL ;)

Those who are critiquing the hairstyle... it is what it is... if that's where you are, then honestly it isn't for you or frankly your family... on the other hand, if you are looking for a magical, albeit expensive, treat, I tell adults to absolutely go for it! Your fairy godmother will make it an experience you will never forget! :cloud9:

At least the girls have something done with their hair. I cannot tell you how many little girls I saw running around WDW with a princess dress on and their hair in a big frizzy knotted mess. (I know hair gets wild in Florida, but at least brush it and clip the hair near her face out of her face so that she can actually see WDW. :thumbsup2)

Think about the BBB from my perspective. I have a son. WDW now has the pirate league which allows your child to become a pirate with lots of face make-up and a bandana. It looks really cool, but in that heat how long will that make-up last? At least with the BBB you know that bun will stay for a day or 2, not just a few hours.

In defense of the girls- keep in mind that sometimes no matter how you comb their hair in the morning or throughout the day it is simply hot in florida. You are also on ride where your hair is blown around. I know I am not going to force my girls to get their hair redone after every ride. As for the Pirate's League- that makeup is so darn hard to get off! They give you these makeup remover wipes but let me tell you- THEY DON'T WORK! My boys looked like they were wearing eyeliner for at least 3 days.:rotfl:

I saw so many boys at the end of the day with the eyeliner effectyou are talking about and shadows of what used to be. One little man had more make-up on his sleeves than on his face (I am assuming from wiping his face because it was so hot). :rotfl:

I think the bun and makeup looks cute on little girls but not so much for adults. But that's ok, everyone has different opinions and I think moms who want to experience that with their daughters should.

My sister and I are taking my niece to BBB for an early morning appt. then spend a few hours in the park and go back to our villa for a break. My sister and I plan on doing doing our own hair and makeup, glitter included and dressing up for our dinner at CRT. And by dressing up I don't mean in costume, just in something nice and girlie. I bought a really cute Disney Couture gold Cinderella necklace with pink rhinestones from Ebay that I plan on wearing that evening. We can't wait!

I've thought about going to the BBB. I'm not too interested in the experience. I actually just want the tight bun with all the gel! I have very thick hair and it would be lovely to get it put up and cemented into place on my first day and have it stay for the week. I know it would get gross and dirty but it sure would be convenient. I'm hopeless at styling my hair. I can put it into a ponytail and that's about it. Does anyone have a link on how to do the princess bun like the FGMIT? Is there a hair only package?
