I admit it! I'm a picky eater. There are some places we want to have character meals (Garden Grill, Chef Mickey's, Ohanas, and Liberty Tavern), but the adult menu doesn't look as appealing to me as the childrens. I love  chicken fingers and macoroni and cheese! Much more than I like salmon and roast. Do I have to eat the adult's food? How would that work? We are going with two children under the age of three. Would I just order for them and then eat off their plate? But that wouldn't be right at the all you can eat places. Thanks in advance for all your advice!

At buffets you can eat whatever you want but they are going to charge you for an adult price.

Maybe it would be easier for you to just eat CS places? My best friend is a very picky eater and prefers kid foods like fries, chicken nuggets, pizza and burgers...she ate counter service for all her meals but came to dinner with us and had a soda while the rest of us ate.

I would them plan to do more TS buffets. Like Chef MIckey's, 1900 Park Fare, etc. Then you can pick from the kids side of the buffet. I do that alot, I dont sometimes feel like adult food. Pretty much any buffet will have the kids food off to a side. (I lived on it at Cape May, as a vegetarian there wasnt much adult food so I hit the cheese pizzza and such)

I'm a picky eater, but have been able to find some great TS places at WDW. I have had no trouble asking for certain sauces to be left off or put on the side, substituting one veggie for another, having something plain, etc.

Some of my favorites are:

Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom. Great buffet and lots to choose from between both the adult and the kids areas.

The Rose & Crown at EPCOT. Great steak & fish here and the Apple Crumble with vanilla ice cream is one of best desserts I've found at WDW!!!

Le Cellier at EPCOT. Great steak here and the chocolate wiskey cake is yummy.

50's Primetime Cafe at Disney-MGM Studios. Great fried chicken & thick shakes!!!

Tusker House at Animal Kingdom. Yummy chicken with mashed potato & green beans. The chocolate cake here is sinfully good.

Spoodles at the Boardwalk is also very good. The garlic shrimp are big, was able to change the sweet potato fries for just regular fries with no problem and the chocolate-apricot-pistaccio cake with raspberry gelato was very good. Not too rich.

I would stay away from buffets because you will be charged adult prices when you will only be eating off the children's choice area. I would agree with doing more counter service places or regular restaurants and ask for those items. I mean why pay $20 for a meal when you can pay $10 or less

are you going for free dining? If so save you adult TS and order your little ones 2 kids meals, they share one, you eat the other. Maybe buy an appetizer or dessert OOP and a drink?

Then you and DH can plan one nice meal at one of those places that takes 2 credits and at least enjoy the atmosphere if not the food. No need to use up a credit and not eat it.

I have heard the TS restaurants are pretty accomadating tho. Like, although you are paying adult prices , they will bring you kid food if there really isn't anything you like on menu. maybe just ask to change entree to chicken fingers but still get sides if they look yummy to you?

so many choices!

In January 2005, my DM, 2 Dsis, DNiece, DD5, and myself had lunch at Hollywood Brown Derby. My 2 sisters, and my niece aren't very adventurous when it comes to food, so they didn't really want to order anything off the adult's lunch menu. I, also, wasn't very hungry, and didn't want a large meal. (You may wonder why we went to HBD?-My DM really wanted the Cobb Salad!)

We asked our server (sorry, forgot name-Michael or Manuel? :confused3 ) if adults could order off the kid's menu. He said it was no problem, we could order whatever we wanted. He even volunteered that we could order a double, or triple order, of a kid's meal, if we wanted. We all ordered the kid's chicken (with exception of my niece, who ordered an appetizer-Coconut Shrimp (2) with minted bean thread noodles, citrus soy dipping sauce and Thai Basil $8.00) and decided to just order the single serving, and if we were still hungry, to order more. But even though the chicken breast, red potatoes, and green beans wasn't a large portion, we found that with the bread and butter served with the meal, we were fine. Also, left room later for a snack! Since it was made for kids, the chicken was a little bland, but after dipping it in my niece's citrus dipping sauce (which our CM offered to bring more if we wanted) it was very good!

So, long story short, an adult can order off the kid's menu. (At least we did) The only difference was that we didn't get our beverage included, but that was fine with us.

If you are on DDP, the advice above would work well-we've done DDP 3 x's now, and have shared many a meal.

Enjoy!

(I have a review of our last trip, Sept. 2006, which does inc. quite a few TS-link below)
