has anyone heard about an adult tea, like high tea? I heard about it somewhere but can't find it now. my hubby wants to go (although he will no doubt faint when he sees the little sandwiches and wish he had a whopper instead)

Although I have never been to it, I am 99% sure there is one at the Grand Floridian. I am sure someone on here will know about it.

we have done high tea several times. it is at the grand floridian in the garden view lounge. PS are recommended as this is a popular event. it is an elegant service(but don't let that scare you off), but dress will be anything from shorts to nicer attire. we usually order the tea that includes tea sandwiches, scone and jam, and dessert. you will have your choice of the type of tea you prefer. the one that is exclusive for the GF is good. hope this helps. do have a look at the link posted; it will give you an idea of what is served. have a great tea party!!

Thanks so musch..plus some menus I;ve been looking for ( for voucher comparison) are there also so another Thanks!

I think it's great that your DH wants to go. Mine just went because I wanted to. Although some DHs do fine and fit in, I had a hard time not laughing the whole time we were there. He really looked like he seemed out of place. Think "Tim the Tool Man does the Grand Floridian Tea". Other than that, I enjoyed it.

My Sis and I went- it was yummy, quite filling - and I'm not a tea lover (theirs were good). Just so you know though- it's not "Adults Only"- read Ducklites very recent review of the screaming toddler for 15 minutes during their tea party.

If you do the tea for 2 please be forewarned, that neither you or your DH will want dinner shortly afterwards. Dh and I went and had a wonderful time, everything was wonderful, and he rarely does tea. We had tea at 5 and had a ps for california grill at 7 I think. We were so full from Tea that we only shared something at CaliGrill. That was something we were not expecting from little sandwiches, and some tea. It made a very filling lunch (1pm) last time we went, and defently held us over for a later dinner(8-9pm).

are there also so another

The GF has the only on-site tea.

You may also want to linger in the lobby of the GF. They have a pianist and then a very nice jazz combo starts around 4:00-5:00 p.m.

I've also found the high tea (sandwiches, pastries, etc.) to be quite filling. They do offer other options as well, such as the strawberries and whipped cream that may fill people up even more.

I am so glad to find this thread. I was thinking of doing this tea with my husband. He was hesitant, but I mentioned how much I would like it. Since I'm going for a humungo steak dinner, it's only fair.

The link to the tea menu was most helpful. The tea for two looks about right.

I had been thinking of doing this while my daughter who is 5 y.o. participated in the 1900 tea with Alice for children. That's due to start at 1:30 and ends at 2:30. So, having seen the link, I notice that the tea begins at 2:00. I guess what we'll have to do is have one of us go down and get her and have her join us immediately after her own ends as we finish up. I suppose, when I make a PS, I can mention this as well as when we enter the tea.

Has anyone else tried to have their tea coincide with the children's tea? How did you arrange it given the time difference that is now blazenly apparent to me?

KIS -

We did just that this past May. Dropped of the kids with Alice, then went over to our tea - hoping to get in early, but not able since they don't seat until 2:00. Explained on our way in that DH had to go get the girls at 2:30. DH knew how much I wanted to do the tea, so instead of him bring the girls back to me, he took them on a walk around the GF, allowing me to savor my scone and strawberries & cream in peace. I had already had the tea sandwiches, my DH had the cheese plate. Poor DH was & still is on Atkins, so didn't mind skipping dessert. The food is wonderful and our server Dennis was quite attentive. Dennis said was could have brought the kids in when they were done, but I am glad we didn't. I think for future trips we will all do the grown-up tea. (My girls are 6 & 7.)

Have a great trip.

thanks for the comments. My daughters and I visit a local tea room so i know looks are deceiving so I was planning earlyish tea then a Q/c voucher dinner at one of the food courts when we get hungry again. this is on one of our Out of park days anyway so we'll probably be cruising some of the hotels we haven't been to..it's been almost 7 yrs from our last trip so lots has changed. i have really benefited from the great posts on this board so thanks alot!

I love this board. I had never given this a thought, but thanks to this board, when we take my mom at Thanksgiving, this is a definite. THanks.

I went to Afternoon Tea for the first time in July. I loved it so much, I should be the Afternoon Tea mascot! I tell everyone I know to just do it! Definitely go - it's a wonderful experience that completely removes you from the hustle and bustle of the parks, for a short time. The food is delectable and the tea is so soothing! Here's a link to the review I wrote shortly after I got back:

Enjoy!

Thanks
I read the suggested review and it sounds so nice! Has any one tried one they are supposed to have at Rose/ Crown in Epcot..didn't see anything about it on their menu but I think it was in a guide book so wondered if it exists or not.
Thanks again

The Rose and Crown no longer offers afternoon tea. They discountinued it several (6 or 7 I think) years ago. Now the only option for afternoon tea is that the Garden View Lounge at the Grand FLoridian.

Jann--There might have been tea served there in the early '90's, but it's been a LONG time since it was if it ever was.

You can go and get a cup of tea at any time. I'm a big tea drinker and very few days in Epcot don't include a stop in for a cup of English breakfast :) They'll make it to go as well.

Thanks guess i am a little late for that one!
...I got the tea to go once there and thought it very cute how the young man explained to this non Brit the proper way to drink tea and cautioned me in no uncertain terms that what ever I did, not to dunk the tea bag!

Merryweather, thank you so much for the review. I am so excited about this, especially now. Thanks again.

I couldn't wait any longer. Sat down and decided which day and made PS for Tea. My first time. I am so excited. We are taking my mom for her birthday and this is going to be so nice. THanks for all of your input.
