Quick question: Does anyone know if a regular adventure gets the adult only treatment if the group happens to be all adults anyway?

I'm definitely booking Portugal and I looked up the winery for the adult only trips (it's the only add on). I want to do this winery visit, but the adult only times don't work for me and my work schedule. I'm curious if I book a regular trip and it's only adults, would they possibly add the winery into the Itinerary? Or could we request that they make arrangements for interested adults no matter what?

Anyone know how that might work?

Most Adult Only trips don't have separate Adult Only activities, so it's hard to say. The only one I did was Alaska, and the Adult Only activity was actually ad hoc and not part of the itinerary (we ended up doing a brewery tour instead of the corny family-friendly restaurant for one meal.)

You'd be taking a chance that no kids would sign up for your Family trip. If there *were* no kids, it is likely they'd ask if folks would rather do the winery. It's hard to say if they'd let the group split up if there were kids, because that would generally mean the Adventure Guides would have to split up. They might be able to make the arrangements for you and anyone else interested, but that would be once you were actually on the trip, and likely on your own dime. It can't hurt to ask ABD, but my guess is it's something you wouldn't know until you got there.

Sayhello- I'm having difficulty understanding if the adult only stuff is a replacement for something or simply additional. I think it was previously replacement stuff - brewery vs. family restaurant, but now it seems like they are trying to encourage adult only booking by adding on adult only stuff.

If it's an add on, I don't mind asking them to arrange it, on my own dime or not. But if it's an alternative, I doubt any arrangement will be possible. However, there are some things on the Itinerary I suspect I'll skip- biking and kayaking probaby.

You're considering an adult only for this in mid May, right? I'm guessing May 15th? Sigh, I wish I could do that date.

That's my understanding, is that the Adult Only activity is an alternative to some more family-friendly activity on the family departures. ABD could tell you if that's true or not.

The biking in Japan was wonderful. Not sure about the biking on this trip, but after Japan I'm more likely to consider it. And I adore kayaking. I was totally going to kayak on the Rhone. :(

Yes, I was considering the May 15th Adult Only. But I highly doubt I'm going to book at this time. Just too many uncertainties right now.

See, I am unclear if it's changed or not. Will ask for sure when booking.

I may kayak, but no way I'm biking. Too much likelihood of falling and breaking something.

I understand your desire to wait, and truthfully, if I book for 2021, it'll be only under the condition that I could easily switch to 2022 in a heartbeat.

I just got news that my college is allowing online instruction for Fall (which I'm taking up) and other CA universities are already mandating it. We are a long way from done with COVID-19.
