my extremely picky eater brother is coming with us for our dec trip. My mom wants to put him on ddp so he won't have to worry about bringing so much money (he has a disabliity and the easier we make things for him the better for us all). My mom is not worried about cost effectiveness--we're used to him not eating enough to justify the cost. He enjoys most of the kid menu selections and some of the adult menus we've looked at. My question is will he be able to order off the child menu and use his adult credit? I know you can't do it the opposite way. Thank in advance!!!!

FIRST TRIP TO WDW TO SEE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS!!!!:cool1:  :yay:

The TS restaurants are usually very accommodating of guests with special needs -- dietary restrictions, vegetarian, kosher, diabetic, allergies, etc. They just appreciate a little advance notice. I would let the CM know when they are making your ADR's, and as long as they know you are purchasing an adult plan for someone 10 or over and not trying to purchase a child's plan for him, they should be able to note that on your ADR and accommodate your brothers needs. HTH :flower3:

I've tried to get such notations put on the reservation records, to no avail.

Regardless, they've always told me just to provide notification when we check-in at the restaurant. The only things they seem to need advance notification for are special requests that would require getting ingredients into the kitchen that aren't normally there. If it is just a matter of preparing something special with the ingredients that are normally available in the kitchen anyway, then no advance notice is needed.

If it is a special request that needs advance notification, you would need to call the restaurant at least 24 hours in advance and talk to a chef.

Ah yes, that's probably the case in the posts I was thinking of. A woman was posting about trying to find desserts for her husband who was diabetic, and she was advised by a CM to have it noted on the ADR next time so the kitchen would be prepared.

Another woman wrote about her disabled son having a special dietary restriction noted on the ADR, and the chef came to their table to discuss the menu and make sure that the dish he was making would be appropriate.

At any rate, many others have written about how their dietary needs and even just preferences have been graciously accommodated at Disney TS restaurants, so I'm sure they will be able to work with your family.

I have a disabled child as well and have found all of the restaurants to be very accomodating to her needs and preferences. If they have it on the menu, I'm sure they will allow him to order it.

For what it's worth, I also have an 11 year old who is not disabled who preferred the children's entrees to the adult entrees. Without exception, every restaurant allowed him to order a child's entree, but if we wanted a larger portion, we had to request that.
