Yes, we do, though not specifically for that reason. We just did 'scorching hot' for so many trips that dh finally said, enough!!

We have gone Dec, Jan, Feb, but having the luck we do have been 'frozen' out every time but twice. We really like Mar, April, May, for the F&G Festival - of course that can be crowded at times with school breaks.
We enjoy Nov. also, and that will probably be our next trip though no plans at this time - have been taking trips to other destinations for awhile - national parks - Smokys (our favorite) Acadia in Maine, Blue Ridge Parkway, etc. etc.

You will definitely enjoy camping as a couple

Thanks for the info. I am so looking forward to traveling. We are going to northern Michigan this summer for a family reunion on our first long trip for 9 days. .Hope we run across you somewhere on the road. We live in SW OhioCongratulations on your 49 years!!!

I must add with the adults only, the last trip, we were riding the 7DMT, our whole car was just adults, we were probably the youngest 2, there's nothing like going through the mine a whole car load of adults singing, Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, at the top of there lungs!

Really like this! We're all 'kids' at Disney, eh?? Things like that keep us young at heart! I love the video of dh & I on that ride - about the only coaster I'll ride anymore though with neck issues - 7DMT is the 'smoothest' one I have ever ridden.

Congrats on new status as Empty Nesters Boomer. We too will be there Just about 1 month but will arrive 23 Dec to cross 2 biggies off my bucket list Spending my birthday and Christmas at WDW

The DW and I have experienced the Fort 3 times as empty nesters (so to speak. Our children are not married yet but both live in Lexington) We still take our annual family trip and do all the parks and fast passes and usually 1 big thing such as Cirque at Disney Springs or a dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. We have a great time. When the DW and I stay at the Fort / Disney it is different. We slow down. We eat more at the camper. The boat ride over to the Magic Kingdom becomes more of an event than just a way to get from point A to point B. If the weather is right and its not to crowded..... we might even stay on the boat and make the trip around a couple of times. When we visit parks, we still have fast passes but if something comes up say like dinner lasting longer because we have enjoyed the food or the conversation and didn't realize how much time has passed, we skip the fast pass....... no big deal.
We take time to enjoy more of what the Fort has to offer. Looping early in the morning on the golf cart with a cup of coffee is nice as well as looping in the evening as the sun goes down. Getting up early just to take a walk as the Fort is coming to life is also something that we enjoy doing. Of course muscling your way into the fire pit at Chip and Dales Campfire Sing a Long with your marshmallows past a group of sugar hyped kids can be challenging but the reward is well worth the risk.
The DW and I are doing more things as empty nesters but we both see stays at the Fort long into our future.

Not at all! For the past 7 years I been joining two other couples on a 2 week adult Disney trip and staying at FW. In addition, my GF and I are taking her kids this august.

They also told us that the way they picked what park to go to was head to the bus stop and whatever bus showed up first was the park they went to!

So you must have annual passes? Or how does that work?

I have been away from the boards for a bit.
Welcome - and you will certainly fit right in with all of the other "childless" campers!
We are retired and visit the Fort 3 or 4 times a year. You may want to check the WDW special events. The Food and Wine and Flower and Garden Festivals are very popular times for adults to visit, along with Halloween and Christmas. Check other websites for crowd levels at WDW. We try to avoid the holidays, spring break, weekends and summer. It is so much more pleasant to have a little bit of elbow room in the parks. For instance, the first couple of weeks in December are lovely and all of the decorations are up, but the heavy crowds haven't started yet.

No.. we bought 7 day passes, added another day because relation came up from Miami. We said we were going to a park one day, then a day off, park again, day off, etc. Ended up going to different resorts to check out Xmas decorations, gingerbread house, played mini-golf one afternoon, rode in the race car at the now gone speedway. One night was MVMCP, another night was Beaches and Cream for the Minnie pants sundae, It was one of the best trips we've had!!!

2017 is not on-line until rates are announced for that time period which typically occurs during the summer some time. You can CALL and book a 2017 reservation now but it will show 2016 rates until the 2017 rates are announced and then your reservation will update to the new rates. So if you want 2017 for now you have to do it over the phone.
