Is there an official open container policy at the resorts? We plan on enjoying a few adult beverages at the Tambu Lounge, but if we wanted to take our beverages with us down to the beach to watch the fireworks, would that be allowed? TIA Maggie

No Problem. Just let the Lounge know so that they can give you plastic cups. While staying at Poly I would just tell the bartender that I wanted the drink to go. Poly Pool bar is closed at night. Poly has excellent Pina Coladas

I don't think that'd be a problem because the pool bar is right there near the beach, too. I've never heard of an open-container policy at the resorts.

I usually take a resort mug I purchase and mix my rum in the coke I get from the refillable fountain in the snack bar. I will take an empty cola bottle and fill it with Rum and put it in my front pocket. When I am ready for a refill, I will go and top off my ice and put some coke in my mug, then add a little Rum somewhere outside that the kids in the area aren't sitting there watching.:thumbsup2

I got chased away from sitting on the side of the pool at AKL with my "adult" cocktail (on Mother's Day)- ...then when I tried to pull a chair up close to the pool I was told I wasn't allowed to have a chair close to the pool. The "let's ruin Mother's Day" police were out that day. Don't know if it's just AKL because I know they're a little stricter-but I saw letttuce floating in the pool--I could understand but why put a bar so close to the pool then?? (yet obstruct half of the view so you can't see your child in the water???:confused3 )

I remember being at SSR and not having any issues with having a cocktail at the poolside then, sheesh...hopefully the POLY won't have any issues-if you're going down to the beach I wouldn't be concerned.

Yep, no chairs or drinks at the pool edge. Disney rules, I think it blocks the lifeguards view of the walk area, and ruins the view for others that are abiding by the rules of no chairs at the pool edge. As for drinks, guess there's a place for everything and thats why they line the lounge chairs away from the pool, easier walking, entering and exiting pool with out stepping over peoples drink cups. You're talking 10 feet from the pool edge, I see no problem with Disney rules on drinks and chairs but in the late evenings, there are no guards and we dip in the pool with our libations right on the edge, but there's hardly anyone in the pool then.

This is no offense to you jwfla422, but this made me laugh (at myself). I read your post, and then quickly looked at the pic in your signature and thought to myself "no wonder they won't let this lady sit by the pool, look at her!" :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
