I want to make some sort of alcohol based punch or drink for thanksgiving that can be stored in a pitcher. I don't want to keep mixing drinks all day long. It's hard to get a good buzz going when you have to keep stopping to mix drinks and baste a turkey:rotfl: :rotfl:

I know that someone here has to have a good recipe.

Apple Pie:

1 gal apple juice
1 gal apple cider
1 1/2 - 2 cups sugar
5 or six cinnamon sticks
1 fifth grain alcohol (but we used vodka instead)

Simmer everything but the liquor for a good hour or so on low heat. Never let it come to a boil. When cooled, add the alcohol then use a funnel to put it back into the bottles

This stuff really tastes like apple pie. Very yummy!!!

Alabama slammer!

Tall glass
½ oz Sloe Gin
½ oz Southern Comfort
½ oz Amaretto
Fill with orange juice
Garnish with a cherry

How big is your pitcher? We made pitchers of margaritas for a bbq this summer, and I SWEAR I was constantly at the machine making more.

Sangria?
Margaritas?

You can make pitchers of almost any drink by doubling, tripling, whatever, the recipes.

Im a huge fan of Mojito's in a pitcher ! ! ! As well as Sangria ...

But if you wanted to go the hot route - Apple Cider, Butter and Capt Morgans in a Crock Pot makes the whole house smell amazing - as well as deeee-lish!

Want the Mojito or the Sangria recipe? My Sangria is the same as Olive Gardens - as I used to bartend there many years ago. :rolleyes1

In one very large pitcher filled with ice, pour in a 1.75 liter bottle of Tanqueray (sp) gin and one small jar of olives...your choice of pimento stuffed, jalapeno stuffed, or whatever stuffed...with the olive juice. Stir wildly and either serve in martini glasses or on the rocks in a regular drink glass. That should do the trick.:thumbsup2

I have never really like mojitos, but maybe it's because I have never had a good one.

I would like the sangria recipe, please.

I just gagged.

I shared this on here last year too. Be careful. This one "sneaks up on you." The taste is kind of like an Amaretto Sour, but smoother. Yummy.

The “Recipe”: Our Family Holiday Tradition

Ingredients:

4 teabags
7 cups water (divided)
1 large can frozen lemonade – thawed in refrigerator
1 large can frozen orange juice – thawed in refrigerator
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups Amaretto (use the cheap stuff for this)

Additional items:

Two-liter bottles of Sprite or 7-UP

Four 32-oz plastic cups (like the kind that extra-large drinks come in at fast food restaurants) or similar sized containers for freezing the mixture

Directions:

Begin by boiling 2 cups of the water and steeping the 4 teabags for 10 minutes. Remove teabags.

In a very large bowl, mix the hot tea with the thawed lemonade, orange juice, and sugar. Add the Amaretto and the remaining 5 cups of water. Mix thoroughly.

Divide this mixture by pouring equally into the four large cups. Cover the top of each cup with plastic wrap and then aluminum foil. Freeze the cups for at least 12 hours.

To serve:

By the glass:
Use an ice cream scoop to place one scoop of the frozen mixture into a large glass. Top with Sprite/7-UP and stir.

As punch:
Run warm water over the sides of one plastic cup to slightly thaw and loosen the frozen mixture enough that it will slip out into a large punch bowl. Mash or chop with a large spoon or whisk. Cover with a full 2-liter bottle of Sprite

CathrynRose, please post your sangria recipe:banana:

Let me preceed this with - Years and years ago - about 12 now, I worked for them for 3 years - THREE YEARS - I was even a trainer for them. Traveled to St Louis for their stupid courses. Worked by butt off for them - picked up shifts all over the place, cuz I genuinely like the company and the people I worked with.

They brought in a new Manager who was a real ^&%$@@!!! He was just so mean. I had a table of 4 teenagers who ordered Salad and Bread sticks - and water - ran me like crazy for refils. Then they trickled out, one by one - and 'dined and ditched' me.

My manager told me I was responsible for the bill. It was like 20-something bucks - but I was like "No way! Ive never had this happen before, you can comp this!" He tells me I should have been watching the table better blah blah blah - and if I dont pay for it - Im 'dismissed from service' Ill never forget that. I was floored.

So I left.

And due to THAT - I share the Olive Garden Sangria recipe - which I memorized from working the bar, and making it every Sunday Morning for the week :) :

Olive Garden Sangria

The big bottle of Soleo Red Table Wine
Bottle of Sweet Vermouth
Cranberry juice cocktail (if you use straight up Cranberry JUICE - its gross...cocktail only)
Small sized bottle of Grenadine - I think it's like 8oz
3/4 cup of sugar diluted in 1 1/2 cup hot water (1 1/2 cup simple syrup)
Limes
oranges
Cherries
crushed ice

This makes a lot - about a gallon. :thumbsup2

Have fun!!!! :drinking1

YOu get fancy schmancy with your Mojito's and make them flavored rum - like Malibu coconut or passion fruit or pineapple....

OR - standard is:

Mint leaves and sugar - muddled (squished up)
Add ice
Add some simple syrup (sugar water)
1 1/2 oz of rum
and top with seltzer (but if you like sweeter stuff, use sprite!)

Sounds great to me - I love a dirty Martini - never considered making them by the pitcher. A very good (but maybe dangerous) idea.

I enjoy this mix:

Midori
Malibu Rum
Sprite
Ice

Then again, if you give me anything with Midori or Malibu, I'm your friend forever.

Cranberry Daiquiris

3/4 cup light rum
1/4 cup cranberry liqueur
1/4 cup triple sec
1/4 cup plus 2 tbl strained fresh lime juice
1/4 cup plus 2 tbl strained fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup cranberry juice
12 fresh cranberries for garnish

Put it all in the blender (except the garnishing berries) and blend. Chill the mixture covered for at least one, and up to three hours. When ready to serve, blend at high speed for 10 seconds, pour into well chilled stemmed glasses filled with ice cubes and garnish with berries. Makes 4 drinks.

This drink may seem tart at first, but after finishing one, you won't know the difference.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you, CathrynRose, for the recipe and for sharing the story behind it. I'm sorry you had a bad experience.........but - hey Olive Garden, karma's a &^)&%%, huh?:rotfl:
