We are taking a trip to WDW at the end of August-beginning of september.

For now I have not made room arrangements as we are waiting (as many people are) to see if there is free dining coming up, or otherwise we will try reservations later on in the summer as probably room discounts will come up.

Last year we took advantage of room discounts, and although it was not as good as the free dining, we could buy room, tickets and dp for not much more than it would have been with the free dp.

Anyway, this year I intend of doing the same. But if I wait until everything clears up, I will probably be stocked with very few dining options as restaurants fill up early. This is my question: Can I make ADRs 180 days in advance even if I don't have a room yet and not knowing if we are in the free dining or not?

Are ADRs linked in someway with room reservations? I remember when I made ADRs last year I was always asked if I was in a Disney Resort and which one was it and if I was in the dining plan so I was wondering if ADRs made now would still be valid when we finally make all our room and dining plan arrangements.

Yes, you can make ADRs at 180 days out. You won't be able to do the 180+10, where you call 180 days before you arrive and make ADRs for your whole trip, but you can do 180 days from the day you want to eat at each place. They will ask which resort and if you have ddp or not, just tell them you don't have your resort yet and you aren't on the ddp (because you aren't at this time).

Has anyone on the dining plan tried to use one adult credit and share a meal? Everything I am reading is that it seems to be a huge amount of food?
