I posted this on the Reservations board but didn't get a response. I thought I'd try here and see if anyone has any suggestions.

We are planning a trip for January 2011 and will be booking a resort package when they become available (in August to my understanding.)

Our 180 day mark is July 7. I hope someone can clue me in how to handle this. I am thinking I am going to have to book day by day at each day's 180 rather than +10 since I won't yet have a resort booked.

If I do that will they just tie everything in once we do book, and how likely is it that there will be some problem and loss of ADRs doing it this way?

The only other option I can think of is to just take my chances on getting what I want after the prices and packages for 2011 are released.

Was it 90 or 180 for the people who booked for January 2010 and if it was 180 what did you do?

Well, I'm one of the many hoping for Free Dining in August. My 180 days came up on Feb. 16th. Since I didn't get the FD PIN and the FD promo isn't out yet (keeping my fingers crossed!), I booked where I will want to stay, added the DDP, and made my ADR's. I got almost everything I wanted at the times that I wanted (within 10 minutes of my planned times). There are already a few ADR's that I wouldn't be able to get if I didn't do this on my 180 day mark. Once the FD offer becomes available (please, please, please!!), I'll call Disney and have them add the code to my ressie. Done and done!

I booked my ADR's for this trip before I booked the room. I did them day by day and have a list of my ADR confirmation numbers.

I hadn't quite convinced my husband that we just had to go again this year at the 180 day mark, but I didn't want to miss those prime ADRs.

You can go back and associate the ADR's with your reservation, but you don't have to.

Because there is already a post on the Reservations board (where this question belongs) I'm closing this one rather than move it there.

The OP may want to bump their post on the reservation board.
