Hi,

I just made some ADR's for our trip in August. This has been giving me such a headache trying to make the right decisions. We are not staying at a WDW resort so we are not on a plan. We don't want to spend our days going from breakfast reserv to lunch reserv to dinner so I have only made one per day. Will eat breakfast most days in resort room and nosh at counter service and snacks the rest of the day. Can you let me know what you think of the ADR's I have and if you think I should change anything? I think Epcot is what I am most concerned about. Keep in mind we have a 1, 3, 11 and 12 year old children. We don't need the best food or fancy places but would like to make sure the food is above decent. I realize it's Disney but don't want to eat cr_ _ all week, it's no good for my stomach. So here is what I have. Oh we are going in August so I thought it would be good as well to be in a/c for a bit.

Saturday 8/13 Chef Mickeys 11:20am breakfast (done this b4 and loved it)
Sunday 8/14 Mama Melrose's 2:40pm (Fastasmic Package)
Monday 8/15 Coral Reef 4:20pm (not sure about this one)
Tuesday 8/16 Ohana 5:10pm (will go back to MG for parade and fireworks, but am I better off with a later reservation to watch from there?) don't want kids falling asleep either???
Wednesday 8/17 Whispering Canyon Cafe 6:45 (after a day at AK)
Thursday 8/18 Akershus 12:00pm

I think my biggest concern is Epcott, is there somewhere better for the kids. We have done Biergarten when it was just me and hubby and liked the food, but want to try something else. Thought about the Grill place in Contemporary but I think it won't be good with the younger kids as my kids need to move around usually.

Thank you all for your input.

Oh almost forgot, I have read alot about Boma? What are your thoughts

I think on the Tuesday you are best to keep your current ADR time. You might or might not be able to see some of the fireworks from Ohana depending on where you are in the restaurant but you certainly would not get to see the parade. And I really prefer not to be trying to feed kids dinner at 8 or 9 pm; let them eat earlier and then if they are starting to crash a few hours later you can always share a big ice cream cone from Caseys to tide them over.

On Wednesday for the AK day I'd recommend Boma rather than WCC. WCC is pretty rowdy but the food at Boma IMHO is a good bit better. WCC's specialty is probably BBQ but on your AK day you can get great BBQ at Flame Tree, a CS place.

At Epcot for me the problem is narrowing it down. Coral Reef has great atmosphere but actually the menu is not that heavy on seafood choices. Cape May buffet dinner, which I see you have as one of your alternative choices, has great seafood. Bottom line: would your family prefer to watch the fishes or eat the fishes? Another way to chose is to pick a type of cuisine that you cannot get at home. Everyone raves about Le Cellier but I can get very good beef at home, so that is not what I focus on in picking restaurants at Disney!

THanks for the info. I had originally changed for RFF at AK to WCC due to reading rave reviews on WCC with the kids. I might change to BOMA especially since you said we can get BBQW at a CS, thought still trying to figure that one out.

Epcot is giving me the most grief I believe. We don't neccessarily want or need seafood. I can get any of the food around us. Marakeesh we have in DC, having food cooked at your table we have several of those around us. Mexican all over, Italian, Japanese Chinese we have it all. I guess I just really want the best option for the kids, fun and entertaining but also good food.

With more emphasis on fun/entertaining for the kids at Epcot, then, I'd say Coral Reef and Biergarten offer the best mix of fun and food. And to make the budget happy, you might consider a later lunch at Biergarten rather than dinner. Check the performance times so you still get the band, dancing, etc, but the menu is neary identical lunch/dinner and the price is a good bit less.

ETA: sorry, just looked back and realized you've done Biergarten before & wanted something different. Coral Reef it is, then!

My kids all loved the Coral Reef at Epcot. Very relaxing place to eat and take a break. We did Boma also. I loved it, the rest of the family didn't care for it. I love trying new dishes but I was with a bunch of picky eaters. There was plenty to chose from so they were still happy, but none of them want to eat there again the next time around. Have fun.

Was thinking about Coral reef myself but mostly have read bad/indifferent reviews, the view is great but the food isn't the best from what I can tell..Either way we are skipping it in favor of Chef Mickeys (you can always find something to eat on the buffet!)

Coral Reef def gets mixed reviews, some ppl love it some not so much. Guess we will have to try it and see for ourselves. Already have Chef Mickey for Breakfast, have done before and we love it. Great interaction with the characters. Made 11:20 one of the last for brkfst always better interaction on the late end of the dining and this way it becomes brkfst and lunch and just a snack in b/t b4 dinner
