Am getting really excited about July trip now and want to book ADRs within the next week.

However, this is all new to me and I was wondering if you could help me with a basic idiots guide, ie phone no from UK, when to phone, what info I need to hand when I call, can I book all places from the same number etc.

We are doing the Disney Dining Plan, do I need to mention this when booking, and I am vegetarian - do some places need vege meals ordered?

Hope you can help, Thanks in advance,
Sara. :)

Thanks for the link, Joh. Did try searching the boards but my PC is playing up a bit and it wouldnt work properly.

Will definitely be booking by next week - makes it all seem real somehow.

Where are you hoping to eat?

I love booking my ADRS :goodvibes

Am probably overdoing the character thing, but want to book Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's (still undecided whether to do breakfast or dinner), and am holding out for info about new MGM pixar breakfast as DS would adore meeting any pixar characters but especially Woody and Buzz. Did want to do Donald's as well coz I really like Donald, but this may be taking it too far!

Other than that I am booking Fantasmic package at Mama Melroses (seems the best menu for vege options), Sci-Fi (fancy the cheesy aspect of the cars), Rainforest Cafe, but still unsure what to book for our time in Epcot and Magic Kingdom - any suggestions?

Rather than making an ADR actually in MK, why not go for one of the nearby resorts. Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge is supposed to be great - and loads of fun for kids. Otherwise, if you just want a simple meal, I can highly recommend the Plaza Restaurant :)

Am l understanding this right but dont you have to wait until its 180 days before the reservation to make your bookings for ADR's? We're going in April and its just coming up to the 180 days time

180 days from today would be 27/7/06 so if you're going in April you could have booked ages ago.

Thanks for the idea Joh. Had looked at Boardwalk restaurants but not given much thought to any of the other resorts. Back to the menus again then!

As gilld said, you're a lot less than 180 days out. Perhaps you were confusing the 180 day rule with the old 90 day rule. They changed it from 180 to 90 sometime last year. So you best get crackin' on those ADRs :thumbsup2

Hiya! The number to ring is 00 1 407 939 3463.

The CMs who take the bookings are very nice but speak slooooooooowly - well at least I had to because they could barely understand my accent! :teeth:

If you're staying at a Disney resort have your Disney reservation number handy - Disney resort guests can book 180 days out PLUS 10 - in other words if you're staying for 10 days and today is 180 days from the first day, you can book all your meals for the whole 10 days. If you're not staying at a Disney resort you can book them exactly 180 days (or less of course) from the date you want to dine.

They'll ask for a phone number and their computer systems only take a certain amount of digits (can't remember how many, 7 I think?) so don't bother giving them the whole international code - they're only taking the phone number for reference purposes anyway.

ESSENTIAL - have a pen and paper ready (or be sitting at your computer) because they'll give you a reservation number for each meal so take that down straight away. Also, they might not have your time available but might have one for 15 minutes later so you'll need to take that down straight away too (it's remarkably easy to forget! lol!).

Anyway in the event that you lose the information later you can ring them with your name and details and they'll be glad to call out the reservation times and numbers again.

Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace are brilliant!

Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom do a beautiful vegetarian burger (at least they did last year) for lunch only (they don't do this for dinner) so I'd highly recommend that. Wolfgang Pucks Cafe in West Side at Downtown Disney do some beautiful vegetarian pasta dishes and veggie pizzas - some of the nicest I've ever tasted. Apparently Boma in Animal Kingdom have gorgeous vegetarian stuff but I haven't eaten there. I've also read that Chefs de France in World Showcase, Epcot do a lovely vegetarian meal. Coral Reef (Epcot) was very disappointing - they had one veggie option which was a very bland, boring pasta dish. Oh, Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom had a gorgeous veggie wrap (no need to book this as it's counter-service - we went back there again and again last summer).

Go to www.allearsnet.com and click on 'Dining' and all the menus are there. It's great fun. :teeth:

EDITED TO ADD: Rainforest Cafe is a great choice - beautiful vegi burger there! Oh and about your question re: lunch or dinner at Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys - one idea is to do dinner in both i.e. do dinner at Crystal Palace on your Magic Kingdom day and do dinner at Chef Mickeys on your Epcot day because you could get the monorail over to the Contemporary from Epcot via the Ticket and Transportation Centre - the monorail is a nice way to pull into Chef Mickeys :)

Hhhhmmm i used the Priority Seating Planning report on here and when you type in the day you want the reservation, its gives you a call date. I typed in 22nd April and it gave me 21st January to ring to make the res!!! So l'm confused now

But anyways l rang today and made all my res's so im pleased about that :woohoo:

mrs-mac,

you're right - I just tried it there too and it's still giving the call date as 90 days out intead of 180 as you said. Yikes! I'm so glad you got your reservations though!!!

I used the 'email link' at the bottom of that page to let them know about this error in case people are missing out on their desired restaurants.

DebIreland, thanks for all the tips, :thumbsup2 especially the one about speaking slowly. I am sure they will have a problem understanding my Welsh accent too!

Going on the monorail from Epcot to Contemporary sounds fabulous and I'm sure DS would love it, (and so would I :teeth: ). I will most certainly do that for dinner in Chef Mickeys.

Lots of lovely vege food ideas too, I'm hungry just thinking about it.

Sara. :)

Thanks for checking, least l know im not going crazy now  It was good news for my bookings but like you stated if people are going by those dates they loose out :sad2: Especially Cindrellas castle res cause that one needs to be dead on the day, doesnt it?

mrs-mac, can I ask out of sheer nosiness where you have booked??? :teeth:

Yeah sure i dont mind, we've booked Chef Mickeys x 2, one character breakfast & one character meal (evening), Crystal Palace character breakfast and finally Sci-fi Dine-in lunch. Our trip last year was our first with our kids so we only booked one meal and that was a character breakfast at Donalds Restaurantosaurus. Which was great, Mickey, Donald & Goofy were all there and the kids loved it :goodvibes

I would still love to do Donalds Breakfastosaurus - maybe I'll try and squeeze it in!

Glad you were able to get all you wanted - have a fab time!
Sara. :)

you mentioned RainForest Cafe - I didnt think that was on the Dining Plan. Can someone tell me if it is now please?
