I kinda know what the answer is but I am still battling with making ADRs. I just like a little more freedom. I have been back and forth and back again on this. I had all these ADRs picked out and was going to do the dining plan. Then we decided not to go with the dinning plan. Then I decided to make a few ADRs for the places I really didn't want to miss and then wing it for the rest. Then I thought about not making any and calling say the day before when we are in WDW. I really don't think I can make the ADRs in June when we are within the time frame. Maybe if I could even do it the month before?
What do you guys really think? I have been told for just the 2 of us it should be no problem. (This is from people I know that have been) Please help.
We will be there December 10-16.

I have decided that I really want to do:
Artist Point
50's Prime Time Cafe
Crystal Palace (breakfast)
LeCellier???? not sure about this one

Thanks to all of you.

I would definately make the ADRs for those places you don't want to miss. The worst that can happen is that you cancel at the last minute. We were there May 4-9 and I had ADRs every day but when our schedule changed I just cancelled those that we wouldn't be needing. I walked up to the dining reservation kiosk at MGM Studios and the woman said it wasn't necessary to cancel but I felt that it wouldn't be fair to someone who might have their heart set on eating at this restaurant and was told there weren't any times available. Even though it wasn't terribly crowded I did see the sign up at MK stating no more table service available for the day.
Also, I would be sure to include LeCellier in your plans. That was one of the best meals we had. While waiting to be seated I tried to get an ADR for the following night and the waiter said that they didn't have any openings until a week later.
HTH

That is what I am leaning towards.(making adrs for the ones I don't want to miss) I think I will add LeCellier to our list. It really sounds good!

Do you think I have to make them in June or can I wait til say October or early November? I just have a hard time planning out that detailed of a schedule so far out.

December is becoming a more crowded time of year.. if there's some place you really want to eat I'd make an ADR. Also, make an ADR for Le Cellier as early as possible as they have been booking up fast. They're my favorite so I can see why!! :thumbsup2

:confused3 Why not make 2 ADR's for each day, after you know which park you will (may be) in. Go or not. Cancel or not. I usually do cancel. Your freedom does not have to be overlooked, BUT, if you don't make the ressies you might be disappointed. It just takes one phonecall.
We make about 1/2 of our ADR's. Fun stuff happens and sometimes we aren't hungry.
Have a wonderfully magic trip.
:hippie:

OK heres my 2 Cents: DO IT ADRS!!!!!!

Heres what I noticed , I maed adrs and so glad I did! I would see very tired and hungry folks looking to sit and grab a bite get informed 30 minutes or up to 90 minutes and lastly getting turned away to go find antoher place.

The appeal of sitting around waiting and hoping does not appeal to me so I made ADRs I had to change one and how wonderful that even at the parks they can make changes. I would not over book that is not fair to tohers, but I would attempt to change time of ressie with service help desk at resort or parks.

Good Luck! Dont forget to enjoy and RELAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I'm going on December 3-7, and I just sent an e-mail to AKL concierge to have them make us one TS reservation for lunch for our first four days. I left the last day open so BF, who does not want anything to do with planning this trip, can decide where to eat if something strikes his fancy during the week. I know its a gamble, but I'll think of it as a calculated risk on getting a table. We're going to leave dinner open and probably just graze on the CL offerings after having large late lunches.
We also didn't really want to be too tied down as it is my BF's first time going and I'm not exactly sure what he will and won't want to do once we get there (he told me to plan it all, arrgghh...), but I too thought we could just cancle if we simply didn't feel like being at that place at that time.

Good luck!

Amy

I would make ADR's. We went Dec 10-18 last year and left one dinner open (we had ADR's for lunch and dinner for the whole week except for one) on a Tuesday night. We called 8 different TS places Monday night for anything after 4 p.m. on Tuesday night and everything was booked right up until 10 p.m. We ended up going to WCC (we were staying at WL)and just waited for a table (about 45 minutes) at 6:30, as we were told all TS places at MK (where we were eventually going that evening) were not accepting walk ups. Good luck with whatever you decide, I just wouldn't have my heart set on TS places if you don't make ADR's. If you're perfectly content with eating CS and it wouldn't be a big deal not eating any TS meals, than I would wing it and not make any or just make the ones I definitely wanted to go to if you wanted to do a few.

**Also, we made all of ours in October for our last trip and got everywhere we wanted (although I've noticed with every passing year more and more people are making ADR's making it a necessity to do it earlier and earlier). We had four adults but I imagine even with two people you would still have the same dilemma. Most restaurants at Disney don't have many (if at all) two seater tables/booths.

I am pretty sure I will go ahead and make ADRs for the ones I really want to do. We don't mind eating at the CS places for some of our meals.
I just need to decide when to make them.
I don't really want to make two per day and take up someone elses chances.
So I think I will do the following:
Artist Point (dinner on first night since we plan on sticking close and just wandering around WL where we are staying)
50's Prime Time Cafe (lunch or dinner?)
Crystal Palace (breakfast)
LeCellier (lunch or dinner?)

I am guessing since the ADRs have become so very important you probably need them regardless of breakfast, lunch or dinner??

Thanks again guys for all your help.

We're going from Sunday May 28 to Saturday June 3 and I know it will be crowded. I just made my ADR's yesterday and I really didn't have a problem. The only one I had a problem with was Chef Mickey's. They had a couple of days available, but either too early (like 7 am) or too late (like 10:40 am). I had no problem getting ADR's for 50's Prime Time (on Sunday which I know will be a busy day at the parks), O'Hana and Liberty Tree Tavern.

I'm the type of person that doesn't like knowing that I have to be somewhere at certain time. I like going to the parks and just deciding what we're going to do at that time. I usually only make a couple ADR's in advance for something we all want to do. Then if we decide we want to do something, we usually just make the ADR a day in advance while we're there.

So I think you should definitely just make ADR's for the places you really want to go.

Id definitely make ADRs. But I'd only do one a day (or one for each meal a day is what I mean)... making 2 for each meal is alot of why when people call for their ADR there is nothing left. I suppose alot of people just do one per meal, but making more than one seems rude. Please dont flame. I dont mean anyone specifically - just the concept of people making more than one ressie per meal. Im sure the cancellations are appreciated but by then its maybe too late for others to get an ADR

:teeth: So ya all know. I make a lunch and dinner per day, most days. I don't double up. I'm a good girl really! princess:
I've also recently read that CM's have started bumping people's double ressies (per other posters).

Make ADRS we didnt and got turned away from places when trying to get a TS meal after a couple of places gave up. Got stuck doing CS 95% of the time. We did have Candlelight processional package(Marakesh) and Biergarten. Those are the only ADRs we had and only TS we got for 10 days. We went in Dec.

Thanks for all the reponses. I have decided to make ADRs for those ones that we don't want to miss. The rest we will go with the flow. CS are fine for the rest if needed.
