We are headed to WDW at the end of May and we were able to get our ADR's last week! It finally feels real now and I'm so excited! We didn't do ADR's for every meal, just a certain few because the rest of the time we like to do QS. Here's the deal though, we are going to restaurants that we've never gone to before so I'm wanting to hear exactly what your favorites would be at each of these restaurants. Also, what would you suggest for the kids?

Whispering Canyon Café - dinner
Akershus - PPO!
Boathouse - date night dinner with just myself & the hubby!
Mama Melrose - lunch
BOG - PPO!

At Akershus breakfast, they will bring hot items (eggs, potatoes, and meats) to the table. You can also help yourself to the cold buffet with fruit, yogurt, donut holes, various breads, and cold meats & cheeses. There are plenty of options for everyone.

We had a great experience at MM! I had the chicken parm and DH had a steak. The kids both loved their pasta with an Alfredo/cream sauce.

BOG breakfast was hit and miss for us with the kids. DD had the French toast and ate it all (she's usually a very light eater). DS did NOT like the crepes.

if you are doing PPO for BoG I'd book a backup later in the morning (like the latest breakfast seating) in case they move hours. A lot of people get bitten by the MK opening an hour earlier and then they have to decide between their BoG or prime park touring time. This way you're covered and if they change the hours you can tour for a couple of hours and then have breakfast there. If you are just doing it for early access nevermind.

You should be safe with Akershus.

Thank you so much! My kids love pasta so they should love MM, especially since you mentioned pasta with alfredo sauce! BOG could be interesting because my DD is also a very light eater and can be picky when she wants to. Usually with breakfast foods she'll eat pretty much whatever, we shall see. DS on the other hand is 6 but eats like a 16 year old boy. I swear he's never met a food that he doesn't enjoy so we'll see what his opinion is.

Honestly, BOG wasn't my first choice for breakfast. A friend of mine is the one who made the reservations and she suggested it as a PPO so that we could have early access and get to SDMT rather quickly. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out and we'll be okay with that.

What are your favorite foods at the restaurants I mentioned?

@allisonpartyof4 - For us, PPO BOG was entirely worth it for the Main Street photos and early access to 7DMT/Fantasyland. I've had the cronut both times I've been, and DH has had the Gaston Feast and open faced sandwich. He liked both, but didn't really love the brie on the sandwich.

At MM, I had chicken parm and cheesecake and DH had a steak and chocolate torte. It was a great meal all around and one of our definite repeats.

I haven't been to WCC or Boathouse.

Thank you! I'm a steak & cheesecake kind of girl so MM sounds like it's just up my alley for an early dinner/late lunch!

We have a ressie for the Boathouse for a party of 7 (really 6.375 as my new granddaughter will be in tow) for the first Sunday night in May. This past trip, when it was just the wife and I, we went to the boathouse for Sunday morning drinks (Yeah, we know pirate:). What a wonderful view out back by the dockside bar. If you and hubby get a chance, I bet it is beautiful to sit outdoors on the water watching the amphicars go puttering by at night too. We sat there for about two hours just enjoying the view, the drinks and the bartenders. You will love the aura of the place.

Whispering canyon is a must do for us on every trip. We have it and MM ressies then too. Not really a BOG fan, saw it once and it was cool but wasn't our cup of tea from a food standpoint.

Sunday morning drinks, I like the way you think my friend! The pictures I've seen look absolutely beautiful. We live on the coast and love the water so any chance we get to spend anywhere near water, especially when it includes food and drinks, we take it! What all have you had from there that you enjoyed?

I've got a question about Whispering Canyon. A friend of mine was telling me that she & her husband get the platter and share. Is that even possible? I thought you paid for the platter per person. I don't eat a ton so we were planning on sharing but if it's per person, there's no need for me to pay $30 for each adult. It would be more cost effective for us to order two smaller meals. Any suggestions?

The platter is per person and there is no sharing per se, IF one person orders it, a small platter comes out and it grows in size and weight for each person at the table that is getting it. So, if you both want some BBQ and fixins, you both have to pay the price. My one son doesn't like bbq so he ordered off the regular menu and we were naughty and snuck him some of the cowboy beans (I hate the sight, smell and consistency of every bean on this planet other than a Jelly Bean and Bean Bag chair :tigger:) but he likes them and wanted to try them. Probably would have been put in the stockades if caught, but we are risk takers!

At the Boathouse, we just had our faves, Beer for me and Red Sangria for the wife. She loved it. I always love it! They were firing up one of the speed boats while we were there and cleaning them as well. That dockside bar would be a great place to catch a big ballgame as there are TV's up above the barside seats. They also have fans out there to help with air movement.

I thought that was the deal at WCC but I wanted to make sure. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what she told me, who knows. We don't eat much so we'll probably each just get something smaller! Thank you for all of your help.

I'm planning to hit up BoG for breakfast for my trip at the beginning of June because the picture of that open face sandwich looked so appetizing! Did your husband dislike the brie in general because he doesn't like the cheese or did the flavor not go well with the sandwich? Or was it just a bad brie (i.e. too bland or too much flavor)?

My husband said the same thing about the brie, but he doesn't like brie very much. I took a bite and loved it, but I never met a cheese I didn't like. Runny egg + soft cheese + crusty bread = heaven.
