ADR's for breakfast/lunch a necessity?

Hey everyone! As you can see I'm new here, I've been reading around on here for several months getting advice for my September vacation and it has been a tremendous help! This is my first vacation that I am planning by myself, so I'm trying to read up on as much DW info that I can lol.

Anywho, my boyfriend of 3yrs and I are going to DW in September (as stated above). We are on the deluxe dining plan and I have all our dinner reservations booked.

We are interested in having a few TS breakfast/lunches so we don't have any un used dining credits.

So, my question is, how necessary is it to book a breakfast or lunch reservation? We aren't interested in character meals although one morning at the Crystal Palace would be nice. If breakfast/lunch reservations are necessary to get a table, what restaurants for breakfast and lunch would you recommend? And what restaurants will be more difficult to get a breakfast/lunch reservation for?

We will be going to all four parks and staying at Poly. So recommendations from each would be great! :)

Thanks!

September is free dining. If you want to eat in the parks, and not outlying resorts, you should start checking for ADRs. Especially Magic Kingdom, which has only two table service restaurants that serve breakfast. Try nearby resort restaurants, like the Wave and Kona (which is in your own resort and would be convenient). As for recommendations, at this point you are probably going to wind up eating wherever there happens to be availability.

I'll go ahead and start booking :)

Any recommendations for good places to eat breakfast at each park?
I love well themed restaurants:cutie:

If you have difficulty in getting reservations for breakfast in MK you could shoot over on the monorail to either Ohana, Parkfare or Chef Mickey for breakfast. If you're going to Epcot you could have breakfast at Cape May which is within walking distance to Epcot. HS has Hollywood and Vine for breakfast. I would definitely make reservations as soon as you can.

Thanks for the recommendations!
Anything good for Animal Kingdom? Does Yak&Yeti serve breakfast?

The only sitdown breakfasts at AK are at Tusker House (buffet with characters) and Rainforest Cafe.

We've had great success with Tusker House for breakfast; in fact, we have a reservation there for end of August. The menu is nothing special but its a good hearty breakfast, allows for a light lunch and you have the characters.

Crystal Palace has a good breakfast at Magic Kingdom as well.

With the free dining plan going on - always get reservations for the restaurants you really want to hit. Better than waiting 30+ minutes!

Just checked out the Tusker House on WDW, looks good to me!

Okay, so here's my plan for breakfast so far, you guys let me know what you think!

Hopefully I can get reservations to these places.. I'm staying club level so I do get the itinerary planning which may help me out a bit?

Monday, Sept. 24th - AK - Tusker House
Tuesday, Sept. 25th - MK - Cinderellas Castle OR Crystal Palace
Wednesday, Sept. 26th - Epcot - Akershus Banquet Hall
Thursay, Sept. 27th - Poly - O'hana

1900 Park Fare also looked like a good alternative.

If your staying at the Poly you might want to eat breakfast at Kona Cafe, everyone always raves about their breakfast dishes. I've been dying to try it but my DH doesn't eat breakfast and my DD still wants to go to character breakfasts. The breakfast buffet at the Tusker House is actually really good, I would eat there even without the characters. If your really not in to characters the breakfast buffet at Boma in AKL is supposed to be even better than Tusker House.

You've picked all the most popular places for breakfast. They're all great, but I'm not sure you'll be able to find ADRs at this late date (they are all character meals and those tend to book up very quickly once the 180-day window opens). I hope you can find the ADRs you are looking for, but I would have a backup plan just in case. Breakfasts at Kona Cafe (Poly), The Wave (Contemporary), Grand Floridian Cafe (GF), Cape May Cafe (Beach Club) and Kouzzina (Boardwalk) are all very good.

Check out AllEars for the menus.

Good luck with your search! :goodvibes

Thank you! Well as predicted, all the restaurants within the parks were all booked up, I have the itinerary planners checking everyday for a reservation to come up, hopefully one will! I suppose this is what I get for booking a vacation only a few months ahead:confused3 lol you live and you learn!

So I suppose I'll need a back up plan lol, I did successfully get one reservation at the Kona Cafe.
I'm wanting to eat breakfast at places that are close to the parks I'm going to be at that day. Is Boma relatively close to AK? Can I walk from AKL to AK? I heard their food is really good.:cloud9:

If your driving, AKL where Boma is located is very close to AK. If your using WDW transportation you would actually take the bus to AK and then transfer to a resort bus over to AKL but unfortunately you can't walk between the two. If your looking for a breakfast near Epcot you can actually walk out the back entrance of the world showcase to any of the restaurants at the Boardwalk or BY/YC. I thought the food at the character buffet at BC was actually very good and it wasn't as loud as some other character breakfasts that we've been to.

You responded at the perfect time, I was literally just looking for a good restaurant near Epcot. Thank you lol:wizard:

So I just booked at Boma, now I only have two more to make!

For my MK day I was thinking about breakfast at GF, what are some good places to eat there?

I thought about WL but it doesn't have the monorail:snooty:lol

WL has a direct boat to the Magic Kingdom though.

Well that works! lol I completely forgot about the boat, I haven't stayed at WL in years.

What would you prefer? I'm torn between GF Cafe or Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL?

I would like somewhere where I can get in and out relatively quick.

I would think the GF cafe would be quicker because there are no hijinks involved. We had lunch at GF cafe once and it was very laid back.

I would definitely prefer the more laid back atmosphere, I'm not very much of a morning person and I have heard Whispering Canyon has a very energetic atmosphere. I don't want to be a grouch to anyone! lol. :ssst:

So I've got all my breakfast reservations booked!
Here's my itinerary, let me know what you guys think.

Monday - Boma @ 7:30AM (Animal Kingdom day)
Tuesday - GF Cafe @ 7AM (Magic Kingodm day)
Wednesday - Captains Grille @ 7:30AM (Epcot day)
Thursday - Kona Cafe @ 8:30AM (Departure day:worried:)

I don't know much about captains grille, but it was the nearest to Epcot that had an available reservation for that time. Opinions on that restaurant would be appreciated :)
