ADRs before MNSSHP?

Hi! I need advice. We are going to MNSSHP on a Sunday in October. I have left the rest of the day unplanned - it is the day before we leave and I don't want my DD4 to be too exhausted to enjoy it. So the question is:

Where do I get ADRs for dinner before the party, or do we just grab CS?

(If this isn't the right place for this thread, let me know... I'm a newbie!)

I am wondering the same thing, I did make a ressie at the Plaza at 4:20 but I may cancel and just do counter service for a quick bite

What has always worked for us is having a 5:00 dinner ADR at one of the monorail resorts before the party :).

We've made a tradition of always eating at CP before every party. We usually get an ADR for a little before 5pm and it works out great. Thanks! April

This year we will be going to CRT at 5:30, so everyone will be already dress and ready for the party as soon as we step out of the restaurant. In the past we have done LTT (back when it was still a character meal for dinner) and Cosmic Ray's. Since we've done the MNSSHP before we're really not too concerned with it cutting into the party time a little. Keep in mind that that some of the CS places are not always open during the parties and that the crowds can get pretty bad.

If you want to try a counter service location then I would recommend Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe.

However if you want a table service restaurant then I would go with Liberty Tree Tavern or Tony's Town Square.

I would do a CS. When we went to MNSSHP in 2009, we ate at 'Ohana before and didn't get to MK until 6:30 or so. I felt rushed. Since you can get into MK with your ticket at 4PM, I would go to MK at 4PM and eat CS there. That way you don't miss out on anything with MNSSHP.

DH and I do the same. We usually try for the first reservation of the evening at a Monorail resort (usually 5 or 5:30PM). Then we head over to the park via monorail or boat (or walk if at the Contemporary).

If you want something in the park, LTT is a nice sit down option. You can go early to eat and then be in the park for the start of the event. Just remember to pick up your wristband before you enter the park. I believe they start handing those out at 4PM.

We are eating at Crystal Palace at 5 pm before the Party on Sept. 27th. We chose it because we are traveling with our two grandbabies.

Our second choice would be Liberty Tree Tavern. But I think one of the monorail resorts would be a good idea, too.

I would say: Grab CS.

We did a TS meal before a previous party....and we felt rushed with a 5 PM ADR. Not that the CM rushed us...but we felt inherently hurried through dinner in order to "start the party" at 7 PM. Sure...2 hours sounds like a lot of time...and it was. But we just didn't enjoy the meal as much with the time constraints.

We have young kids, though, and so our "party time" ends significantly BEFORE midnight. :)

We usually sleep in, then eat a late TS breakfast or TS lunch at the resort where we are staying. At 4:00, we enter the park. Then we grab CS for dinner, usually at CHH (but it closes around 6:00, so we eat there around 5:30).

We will be taking it easy on our MNSSHP day. We made lunch ressies at Le Cellier and plan on eating CS at our resort before heading over to MK since my grandparents will be staying in the room rather than attending the party.

My DH and I had reservations at the Crystal Palace at 5pm. We went back to our room around 3, rested for a while, got in costumes, and went back for dinner. It worked great!!

Thanks everyone! This has been very helpful! I am leaning towards Whispering Canyon Cafe at five and then taking the boat over to MK. I think we will take it easy for the rest of the day since the party starts at DD4's usual bedtime.

Do all the adults dress up for the party too?

We've done several parties and we usually skip the morning and eat a brunch and try to eat as close to 4 p.m. as possible so we can maximize our time at the party. We ate at CP last year at 4:15 and we were out by 5 p.m.. Using this strategy we rode the teacups with Alice before the park closed one night when there was hardly anyone around!

we have done both. two years ago we did cosmic rays and then last year we had a 4:30 res at CP. We are going to Cp this year. It just worked better for us. we were early enough so we were not rushed and my kids had fun with the characters. they loved CP and they were 10, 8 and 6. with cosmic rays you have to figure out what everyone wants and find a table. CP was more fun.

We are opting for a late breakfast at our resort. We'll grab a CS meal in the park before the party starts.

This will be out 4th year. 1st year we went to LTT and walked out right before the first parade. It was great, but no characters anymore. Then we did CP. What a nightmare! We had a 5:15 ADR and had to wait over 45 minutes for a table (outside in September...HOT for kids in costumes). By the time we finally were done we had seen only 2 characters and just left. It was dirty on the carpet and tables and not a good experience. Last year we went to CRT at 4:30. Loved it! We really felt the magic and came out able to enjoy several rides before the party really started. So...we are doing the same this year! 4:15 CRT!
