ADRs at other resorts

My question is what do most people do to get from the resort you are staying at to the resort you have an adr at (ex. staying at AKL, adr at Yacht club for dinner)?
Because the ride eats up so much of your day, do people find other alternatives to Table service meals for dinner?
I have 3 kids, so maximizing day time is critical, how do others with kids handle it?
Do people ever get take out deliveried to the room? If so what is good?

I only schedule "nearby" resort dining if I am at MK (Wilderness Lodge, Ft. Wilderness, Poly, GF, Contemporary) or Epcot (BWI, Beach Club, Yacht Club). Unless I want to see a resort (such as AKL), I won't schedule a meal there. However, that being said, I do like to travel around and check out the other resorts - there are a lot of cool places to experience and I do it on a "down or off" day. Also, my family are now all adults - so that probably makes a difference too. Also, I use the Disney transportation and just build in an hour for travel - or more if I'm stopping somewhere along the way (for example dinner at GF Cafe, I would go to MK, take the monorail and then if in the mood get off at contemporary or poly and check the resort).

When we stayed at Pop Century last summer we had our car with us and just drove to the other resorts for ADRs. We ate at Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Animal Kingdom Lodge. We chose based on the restaurants we wanted to eat in (1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's, Boma).

If we didn't have the car, our plans may have been different, or we could have taken a bus to a theme park then transferred to a resort bus. More than likely we would have scheduled meals only in the MK area and taken the monorail after the bus.

The way we tour the parks with the kids is.....we go very early in the morning (we wait to get in before rope drop), get the rides done in the morning, have an early lunch (before noon for sure), do some other attractions, then take a break in the afternoon and go back to the hotel by 2PM for a nap. We get a lot done in the morning before it gets unbearably hot, then go back in the evening if we have an ADR or just go to a resort ADR for dinner. Our kids are small and they handle this schedule very well.

Since we will now be staying at Boardwalk Villas from now on, we have several restaurants to choose from in that area and so we will take advantage of the restaurants at the BW, BC and YC resorts. It is a bit easier to get to other resorts from the Epcot area, since you could either walk ot take the boat to DHS and then take any resort bus you need from that theme park. Once again though, we will have the car with us so we would more than likely drive to Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, etc.

usually based on where we plan to be. In your Yachtsman Steakhouse example, if we wanted to eat there while staying at AKL, we would schedule the ADR for an Epcot evening and exit through the international gate.

I don't use Disney transportation to get from resort to resort, except in the few cases where it doesn't involve transferring at a theme park. For instance, if I'm staying at GF and dining at Poly, I'll take the boat or monorail.

If I don't have a car, I take a cab.

I try to plan resort dining near the park we're going to. Jiko's is on an AK day, California Grill or Kona is on an MK day, etc. We don't have a car, so we're dependent on Disney transportation. Since we've gone during value season, haven't had a problem. And since we eat late, we generally take a cab back to the resort; costs about $10.

Same here. My vacation time is too important to me to spend it transfering from bus to bus and waiting at the bus stops. And the cost of a taxi is minimal compared the other expenses in WDW.

And like others have said, I coordinate my ADRs so I have to travel as little as possible.

Like many others, we just schedule dinners near where we are planning to be. However, AKL is sort of inconvenient (IMO) so we took a cab from ASMu to AKL, which was not terribly expensive and very convenient.

We always go in September and have never had an issue getting from wherever we are to wherever we need to be. That being said, we do usually try and schedule our ADRs near where we think we are going to be on a certain day.

We stayed at AKL during our last visit to Disney (9/07) and the buses seemed to be few and far between. If we had late ressies, we ended up taking a cab back to AKL because we didn't feel like waiting 20 - 30 minutes for a bus.

we are staying at All Star Sports, how long should be allow for transit to GF (1900PF) and Contemporary (Chef Mickeys)?

thanks.

We were just at ASMo and went to 1900 PF - we took the bus to MK and then took the boat to 1900PF - it probably took us about 30 minutes. The bus was at the stop when we got there and the boat was docked and waiting at MK so you will probably want to give yourself an hour. At 1900 they have a great balcony with a band to hang out while you wait if you get there early.

We mostly scheduled the TS-ADRs to coincide with our touring plans. Restaurants inside the parks are fairly easy to get to. Also, the ones at Monorail-Resorts aren't a big problem if you are going to be at MK for example.

I would avoid too many ADRs at resorts that are further away though.

I usually drive when I am at WDW, but if I'm planning to use WDW transportation, I just try to make adr's that fit with our plans. When we are going to be at Epcot, I usually plan an adr for somewhere in WS. On our MK days, I try to pick a restaurant on the monorail loop.

I hope this question belongs here and I hope someone can help me out. We have ADRs at a couple of resort restaurants. I remember driving to Contemporary and parking there last trip to eat at Chef Mickeys, but we only parked there and ate, then left.

My question is can we drive to the resort (say Ohana's for a 7:30 a.m. breakfast), park our car, then hop on the monorail to Magic Kingdom and leave our car there at the resort for the day? Or would we get a ticket or something?

We have only one breakfast ADR (at aforementioned Ohana) and the other two ADRs are dinner at Chef Mickeys and Whispering Canyon.

We would like to drive, since we'll have two kids in tow.

No, you cannot leave your car at a monorail resort for the rest of the day. You have a 3 hour window for an ADR. They know how popular the restaurants are and they know that everyone would do this if they could, leaving no parking for resort guests.

You may be able to leave your car longer if you valet park, but that's expensive. And you'd have to ask.

Thanks for the response. I think what we've decided to do is go park at MK and then take the monorail to Poly, then take the monorail back to MK.
