Called at 9:33 am, on hold for 2 minutes and 13 minutes later all my ADR's were in place and I was off the phone. So it looks like things are getting better with hold times. I was able to get all my choices (but two of my choices had to be made at different times)

WEDNESDAY JUNE 24th---MAGIC KINGDOM

THURSDAY JUNE 25TH---ANIMAL KINGDOM
Dinner--Cape May Café---Wanted 7:30pm got 7:20pm

FRIDAY JUNE 26TH---HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
Dinner--Sci Fi Diner---Wanted 3:00pm got 1:20pm

SATURDAY JUNE 27TH--EPCOT
Dinner--Coral Reef---Wanted 7:00pm got 7:05pm

SUNDAY JUNE 28TH--TYPHOON LAGOON
Dinner--Whispering Canyon Café---Wanted 7:00pm got 6:45pm

The only thing that I'm "worried" about is that they had to book us for 2 cars at Sci Fi. She said that when we actually get there, they'll probably sit us together in one car, so let's keep fingers crossed. She said for that day, Sci Fi was totally booked up except for the time that I got (1:20) She was telling me that this restaurant has been booking up really quick and that she's been trying to get in along with a friend of hers and she hasn't been able to. Is this restaurant becoming the "new Le Cellier", impossible to get? We actually decided not to go to Le Cellier this time (we love it but want to try something new this time, so we're heading over to Coral Reef)

Let me know what you think of our choices!!!

I like all your spots, so no critique there. You have four out of six spots that are "all you can eat," and I can understand that personally! :thumbsup2

SciFi sure is bewildering these days. We walked up at about 12:30 one afternoon two years ago, and were seated immediately - not in the cars, but in those little "picnic" tables in the back, and managed just fine.

Why the sudden spike in popularity, I wonder?

Congratulations...you've made some great choices. We've been to them all and like/love them all but one. I hope we can get Sci-Fi when we go in September.

I agree with the question about SciFi being so hard to get recently. We ate there on the 13th of this month, and while we were there waiting to be seated a couple came without reservations... I fully expected them to get turned away, but lo and behold they got a picnic umbrella table in the back not far from us. I was so surprised. When we were seated.. it didn't seem as though they were all that busy. Don't really know what the deal is with them. :cutie:

Congrats on getting all of your choices! Just wanted to mention that we experienced the "2 cars" during our June visit. It actually worked out fine; we were in a line of "traffic" together. We had 7 adults and 2 kids, and we split up in kind of a dumb way (which was our fault, not the CM's). My sister and I took our kids to the smaller car, which was configured like a real car -- two seats in front, two seats in back. The kids (then 2 and 4) wanted to sit together so we were constantly leaning over the seats to help them with dinner, coloring, etc. Also I remember thinking that it was VERY QUIET. Everyone was really watching the movies! I had thought from reading about Sci-Fi that the movie was just kind of atmosphere, but people were really attentive which made chatting kind of odd. Not a bad experience at all, just much different than I thought.

Have fun!

Bottom line is: it's the summer and the parks will be more crowded than other times of the year. As we all know, table service is not the strongpoint of DHS. Your choices are Brown Derby, Mama Melrose, 50s Primetime and Sci-Fi. We all have our favorite of the four, but the truth is none of these are stellar. I would guess that Sci-Fi is the most popular of some very lackluster choices. It's not always this hard to get a table. As PP's have stated, there are times when you can just walk up. It's the time of the year for which you are inquiring.

Last Aug we did a walk up and were sat very quickly at Sci-Fi but weren't impressed. It did seem too quiet and awkward to carry on a conversation

Do you need to request a car when making a reservation at Sci Fi? We were there in 2007 and seem to remember requesting a car when making the reservation. When I made the reservations for June, I was told that I need to request the car at the podium? :confused3

I just don't want to take the chance and not have the car added to our reservation if that is the norm. Thanks!popcorn::

We've eaten at everywhere on your list except Cape May.(CM and CP more than once.) We loved all of them except Sci Fi got mixed reviews from our group. 2 loved the meal, 3 did not. We all thought the atmosphere was cool.

Is your Sci-Fi ADR for a day when Fantasmic is showing? Some have speculated that this may be what is tying up reservations since it is only a few nights a week now.

OP here, I just checked about Fantasmic (never really thought about that to be honest) and....nope, no Fantasmic the day we are going. I too, remember when we walked up and got a car with no reservation and no problem. But I'm thinking since the DDP is here, things have changed. I'm just not quite sure why Sci Fi is so popular nowadays. We've been a few times before (it's DH's FAVORITE restaurant--even though we said that we wanted to try new restaurants this time instead of the ole standbys, he INSISTED on booking this one again) He told me I could pick EVERYWHERE else to eat, but we HAD to go to Sci Fi. Personally, I like the place, I like the food but I'm ready to move on. LOL I would have liked to go back to 50's Primetime or even to try out Mama Melroses, Brown Derby or Hollywood/Vine...we've never been.

And sadly enough, I just looked over our ADR's and realized that our plan of trying new places to eat didn't pan out the way I was hoping. LOL Out of the 6 restaurants we're going to, only 2 of them are new to us. Our boys insisted on Chef Mickeys (their fave) and we all basically agreed to go to Crystal Palace again (we LOVE their breakfast buffet) DH insisted on Sci Fi and I wanted to try Whispering Canyon's Dinner (we've done the breakfast a few times already) so the only new ones to us will be Cape May Cafe and Coral Reef. Hopefully, they turn out to be good!!!!

And lastly, to answer about requesting a car while making reservations, the CM yesterday told me that you were not able to do it.

I tried to book Sci-Fi for dinner on 6/24, exactly 90 days from now, and it was totally booked. I told the CM that I'd read it was getting impossible to get Sci-Fi so she put me on hold to find out what was up. While on hold I got disconnected :scared1: and had to call back. None of the ressies I had made were finalized in the system, so I had to start all over. NEVER DID GET SCI FI after all that!:confused3

I have never requested a car, and never been seated anywhere other than a car. There are waaaaaaaaaay more cars than picnic tables, so your chances of getting a car are really high.
