Hi. I am new to the boards, this is my first post. I will be bringing my daughter (DD8 I guess is how I would refer to her :)) to Disney World in May 2009 for her first trip there. I have some relatives that may go also.

I am a big planner and have already started thinking about scheduling some ADR's. My concern is my relatives. They are a little flaky and if I include them in my reservations they may skip them.

My question is it better to make the ADR's for 5 people (me and my daughter plus the 3 of them) than if they cancel (a) just show up with my daughter or (b) call them ahead of time and let them know we are only 2? Or can you do 2 reservations but request to be seated together?

Sounds simple, but I remember having an ADR at Disneyland last year (I live in AZ, so have made many trips to Disneyland) that changed from 6 to 5. When I called to change it they said they would have to reschedule us and we would lose our preferred time slot, so we just kept it at 6 (but showed up with 5 people).

I want to be considerate and not sit at a table for 5 if there is only 2 but I also don't want to lose ADR's because of it.

I would make the ADRs for 5. If you show up with 2 or call ahead to reduce the party size then deal with it then. Much easier to decrease party size than add on. And I don't believe Disney is too keen on seating parties together. They may try but if you're going at a busy time they probably won't.
Good luck!
