ADR's and cancellation question

Just wondering if you book six months in advance and you get to WDW and decide you are not going to go to the park on the day you have an ADR, can you cancel your reservation? I was just wondering if they take credit card #s or something to book. How long do you have to give them to cancel? I'd like to make as many ADR's as I can before we leave but want to make sure I can get out of them if we make other plans

For all of the regular dining restaurants, you just call and book an ADR. They will give you confirmation number.

If you get to Disney and are busy doing something else, believe it or not, you don't even have to show up. Nothing will happen to you. It's always nice, however, to call and cancel your ADR so some poor person who planned a last-minute trip might be able to enjoy a meal that evening. But nothing will happen to you if you don't go to the meal.

Now, there are other dining experiences that do require a credit card. They would be places like: Cinderella's Royal Table, Hoop Dee Doo Review, Spirit of Aloha, etc. These require a credit card to reserve. They give you a 48 hour cancellation window on these. So, these you would not want to bail out on last minute.

Thanks, Christine! That helps a ton. So I am safe will all reservations except anyone that requires a credit card hold, and then for those as long as you give 48 hours you will not be penalized? Thanks again for the info. Now I see why so many people make ADRs. You have nothing to lose and can change your mind if you need to. I better get planning

Can you cancel ADR's and dinner packages with credit card at any disney restaurant? What number do you ring if you are not at a park when you want to cancel?

The 48 hours cancellation policy is for the Fantasmic dinner package as well. When I originally booked mine, I was told that my CC would be charged if I did not cancel with 48 hours notification.

I had a reservation at CRT and my child got sick that day in the park. I stopped by and cancelled the reservation 1 1/2 hours prior to our dining time and was not charged. The CM didn't even seem to care.
