We are on the dining plan in November (dh, me, ds (10), and dd (7)) - so I have been trying to figure out some places my kids would enjoy and actually eat food at and not doing buffets all the time:) In the past we have not done sit downs (although I did as a kid), but since we are on the dining plan for the first time - we can - yeah! And while looking at my ADRs over and over...I have a few too many and need to figure out which ones not to do:) Any advice is appreciated!

Nov. 19th (Arrival Day after driving overnight - expecting to arrive around 11am/noon - no parks):
Hoop Dee Doo Revue - currently have a 4PM reservation (hoping to get a 6:15 - but not going well yet) (2 credits)

Nov 20th: (Looking at Animal Kingdom and then Epcot in the evening)
Quick Service at Animal Kingdom
Epcot for dinner - San Angel Inn or Chefs de France - have reservations for both right now... (1 credit)

Nov 21st: (Hollywood Studios)
Have a H &V Minnie's Xmas with Fantasmic for dinner (going to cancel Chef mickey's Brunch for this - crossing fingers it will be worth it) (1 credit)

November 22nd: (Magic Kingdom - this was originally going to be HS Day and eat at 50's - but I think I am going to release 50's dinner since we got the Minnie's xmas the night before)
No ADR - Quick Service

November 23rd: (Sea World Day)
Have Whispering Canyon dinner booked - but thinking we may just do DTD Wolfgang Puck Express instead.. (1 credit)

November 24th (Epcot)
Garden Grill Breakfast (1 credit)
Teppan Edo Dinner (1 credit)

November 25th (Magic Kingdom)
QS BOG Lunch
Ohana Dinner (1 credit)

Nov 26th (leaving and going to space center and start our drive home)
Have 1900 Park Fare Breakfast booked, but thinking of dropping this as well so it doesn't take so much time out of our space center visit (1 credit)

So have 9 credits booked - only need 7...opinions are welcome...do you think my kids will enjoy the places we have?

Thanks if you made it this far in my rambling!

I would choose the Wolfgang Puck Express that day for sure!!

Plus drop the breakfast on the last day!

Between San Angel or Chefs de France on 11/20, I'd probably drop Chefs. I think San Angel's menu is probably more kid-friendly and our meal at Chefs last week was disappointing. Service was inattentive, the place was even louder than usual and food was lukewarm. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night, but for kids I think I'd keep SAI.

I'd also probably drop the ADRs for your travel/offsite days (11/23 and 11/26). Gives you more flexibility, and you can always catch QS or eat offsite.

I agree with Hopefully. Cancel those ADRs that you aren't going to use immediately, so someone else can have them. Make up your mind about your Epcot dinner and just go with it.

I'd drop Whispering Canyon and 1900 Park Fare and do CS instead. OR,keep them and just pay OOP for HDDR.

It looks like you are counting Wolfgang Puck Express as one of your credits. WPE is a QS credit and not a TS credit. Does that free up one?

I see that you have several days with multiple reservations for the same meal. While you do this another family has been unable to book the ADR.
Please make a decision and release what you will not use

Yeah I get that which is why I am deciding what to do - and there is only one night where we have 2 booked for the same meal - the others are not for the same meal - so thanks for the concern!

Thanks - I do like the theming of SAI - which is why I am thinking about that one... thanks for the advice on the travel days... I think that is what I will do...then we don't have to rush!

Nope - had 1 credit for the whispering canyon - but I think I am going to do WPE instead since we are at Sea World that day - then we don't have to rush back!

I liked Whispering Canyon, but we all loved WPE more. And it would free up a credit for you. After a day at Sea World, taking it easy and walking around DTD (or Disney Springs...I will never get used to that:rotfl:) would be nice. No rushing and taking your time.

i double book things and cancel things when i finally make up my mind. dont let others get upset about it. i agree you should release them once you decide so someone can grab it, but if someone is really looking for a specific restaurant time/day, they will keep searching and find the one you release. i did this for weeks lol

i would do san angel inn. i love the france dinner but i took french classes in HS. with your kids i think SAI would be cooler to them and its mexican food and i LOVE it lol.

i would cancel garden grill.

Thanks! I know there are some mixed review of SAI which is why I wasn't sure...

Why would you cancel garden grill?? Is the breakfast no good?

I agree with dropping the reservations for days you aren't staying on the property. If you want to hit the space center I would not plan a long breakfast, so cx. 1900. I would also drop Whispering Canyon. As for SAI vs. Chefs, we prefer the French food because it's not as easy to find at home. Having picky eaters in my group we have always been fine with the choices in Chefs, but I also have been swayed by not so great reviews of SAI.

i havent heard anything horrible by any means i just have never heard anyone rave about it. it could be wonderful and you just dont know it. we have been to disney over 20 times and never eaten at cape may cafe or even heard of it and we are going on sept because i had family who ate there (they go as often as us and someone told me to try it so they did too) and they said its WONDERFUL. i just said to cancel it since you need to get rid of to ADRs, i liked the others you had better.

we do have friends who dont like san angel, but i think they are nuts BUT Everyone can like/dislike something. my personal view is, try it and form your own opinion and if you dont like it then you know for sure BUT i couldnt decide i dont like something just because someone told me they didnt like it. i like to experience things on my own. i love mexican food and the atmosphere of san angel, and with your kids ask to sit near the water so they can watch them. also in the volcano clouds coming out the top of the volcano, tell them to look out for the hidden mickey =)

I would drop Whispering Canyon and 1900 Park Fare.

While I LOVE the Wilderness Lodge, we've found WC to be kind of disappointing. The characters at Park Fare breakfast don't appeal to me, plus if you have another activity that day (Space Center?), I think the meal will be less enjoyable because you'll be wanting to get on the road. I would do QS or something else instead.

Between San Angel and Chefs, we liked San Angel more. The setting is pretty magical.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your post, it looks like you have one day where you have double-booked dinner. I am disappointed that you have asked for opinions on your meal choices and others on this board are being nasty about you giving yourself a few options. It would be a different story if you had 3 dinners booked for every night of your trip. Get a grip, people. This kind of attitude makes people feel unwelcome on this board and encourages them to go elsewhere. And your double-booked meal of San Angel Inn or Chefs de France...both places still have dinner reservations open for 4 on 11/20.

To actually answer your question, I would agree that you probably should cancel your 1900 Park Fare breakfast, due to time constraints. My personal experience with breakfast there was mediocre, in terms of both food and atmosphere.

I would also drop the Whispering Canyon and chose something more exciting, although the food was good when we ate there. And you may decide that you want to spend more time at Sea World (I've never been, so purely just a maybe). If you are going to DTD, there are plenty of restaurants there that are just as good. I personally enjoy Raglan Road, but it can be a little loud.

Enjoy your trip!

I notice that you will be driving overnight and into the morning hours. When you arrive you guys will be worn out, we did this once and once we arrived we didn't feel like doing anything that afternoon and evening except hanging out at the resort. You might want to think about that and your HDDR reservation. You want to be well rested the next day when you begin touring the parks.

I agreed with the others and cancel 1900 since you will be heading to the space center.

Thanks! I have decided I am definitely dropping Park Fare and most likely Whispering Canyon...

Thank you - yeah I am not sure why people have to be so negative, but yes that is the only day I have double booked and yes both restaurants have openings:) - we have a chef mickeys brunch booked, but I am going to drop that for the Minnies H&V dinner - but that isn't even double booked, completely different times - figured since I was able to get the Minnies one it seems like there are the same characters, so why do both:) Yeah I will be dropping Park Fare for sure...I kept going back and forth about Whispering Canyon, but I am thinking we may not be in the mood after a day at Sea World...

Thanks1 Others have suggested dropping HDDR on our travel day - but I remember doing that show when I was younger and think my kids would love it! And I am thinking a non park day would be good for it...still trying to get a 6:15 time instead, but not sure that will happen...I figure my dh and I will be switching driving and if we do get there by noon, we can take a nap and still get to dinner...kids will be fine because they sleep in the car:)

Hoop Dee Doo Revue - currently have a 4PM reservation (hoping to get a 6:15 - but not going well yet) (2 credits)Stay with this one, lots of fun and a great way to start a WDW vacation

Nov 20th: (Looking at Animal Kingdom and then Epcot in the evening)
Quick Service at Animal Kingdom
Epcot for dinner - San Angel Inn or Chefs de France - have reservations for both right now... (1 credit)San Angel would be my choice to keep

Nov 21st: (Hollywood Studios)
Have a H &V Minnie's Xmas with Fantasmic for dinner (going to cancel Chef mickey's Brunch for this - crossing fingers it will be worth it) (1 credit)No thoughts on this as we we have never dined at H&V

November 22nd: (Magic Kingdom - this was originally going to be HS Day and eat at 50's - but I think I am going to release 50's dinner since we got the Minnie's xmas the night before)If you can work it in, 50s is a lot of fun and really tasty meal
No ADR - Quick Service

November 23rd: (Sea World Day)
Have Whispering Canyon dinner booked - but thinking we may just do DTD Wolfgang Puck Express instead.. (1 credit)Skip WCC, but go check out the Wilderness Lodge if you have time, the most beautiful resort on property IMO

November 24th (Epcot)
Garden Grill Breakfast (1 credit)We always liked GG for dinner so I feel like breakfast will be a winner
Teppan Edo Dinner (1 credit)I would skip this one

November 25th (Magic Kingdom)
QS BOG Lunch This is a hard ticket to get so stay with
Ohana Dinner (1 credit)Love Ohana dinner but make sure to be hungry before you get there

Nov 26th (leaving and going to space center and start our drive home)
Have 1900 Park Fare Breakfast booked, but thinking of dropping this as well so it doesn't take so much time out of our space center visit (1 credit)Another good one to skip. If it works in timing, try The Wave, Kona or Trails End for breakfast, any of those will do the trick

For my honeymoon, we started our trip with HDDR and it was fabulous! It really started our trip off on the right foot. I'm not sure how long your trip is - but hopefully you can get a later ADR and take a nap. Our trip is only 7-8 hours.
