I keep hearing people talk abut ADR's...first off what does it stand for? I know it's to do with reserving things.
I am in the process of planning a vacation and have two young kids. I know there are a bunch of different character dinning experiences but I can't find any info on them and how to actually book them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

ADR stands for Advance Dining Reservation. These are made 90 days before your stay at disney. All Table Service (TS) Resturants recommend you make them. you would call 407-WDW-DINE to make them.

ADRs are advanced dining reservations. You can make them 90 (used to be 180) days before you check-in. You can book for 10 days at that time and if your trips is longer you would have to call back for the last days. You can figure your 90 day date by going to the dining section here and click on dining calculator, put in your arrival date and it will show you the 90 day mark. As far a character meals, there is a section when you scroll down the dining page for kids meals that gives you information on the character meals. You would make reservations for them through Disney dining at your 90 day mark (1-407-WDW-DINE).

If you are looking for recommendations for a family (we have a 5 & 3 year olds) we LOVE Chef Mickey's (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto) & crystal palace (pooh, eeyore, tigger, and piglet).

Good luck!

Thanks so much. I will definitely look into those as my kids will be 2 and 3 when we go in January!

Just because... as has been mentioned several times, ADR = advance dining reservations; this, of course, is redundant since reservations are, by nature, made in advance ;)
