ADR Time question

Quick question,if we have an ADR for say Via Napoli at 5:25 and we show up at 5:10, can we check in? I always wondered if we show up to an ADR 10 or 15 minutes early if we could be signed in and possibly be seated earlier....

Anyone ever done this? Will some restaurants be fine with it or will some say sorry please come back in 10 minutes?

It depends on the restaurant and the CM. sometimes yes, sometimes no.

They always allow you to check-in early. However, that does not mean you will necessarily be seated earlier than you would otherwise have been if you checked-in at the reserved time. Our experience has been sometimes you get in earlier, somethimes you get in as expected not too long after your reserved time, and sometimes you wait forever, the latter two of which we have also experienced when checking in at the reserved time.

I have overheard people being told that they can't check in more than x minutes early. This was at Akershus though on a busy, busy night (and right at prime dinner time.) I think three groups ahead of me tried and they were told to come back. That was the first time I had heard that. I can't remember how many minutes it was.

We always check in about 10 mins early. We never had an issue with that expect for Le Cellier when they told us to come back at the actual time of the reservation. I am not sure if it got us seated any earlier or not.

We could not check in early at CRT. But it was insane and slammed that night. The cm just told us to come back. Also we tried to check in a San Angel inn a little
before it opened and we were told to come back. Otherwise. we have never had a a problem checking in early.

We usually check in early... sometimes they can seat you but sometimes you still wait until your ADR time.

It does depend on the restaurant but you can at Via Napoli. Once we checked in at Via Napoli 45 minutes early and they had many tables available so we were seated. It should be fine but you still might have to wait.

On the Disney dining reservation page it used to suggest that you check in 15 minutes prior to your reservation time, but the more recent reservations that I've made say 5 minutes. In most cases you can probably still check in up to 15 minutes early, but some restaurants might ask you to come back in 10 minutes. Many have posted that BOG often will not check anyone in until 5 minutes before the ADR. Any earlier (e.g. half an hour early), if the restaurant is busy you will probably be told to come back close to your reservation time. If you are seated considerably before your actual reservation time (e.g. 45 minutes or more) be sure it is noted so that you will not be charged the no show fee for missing your actual reservation time.

I have never had a problem with 15 minutes early (I'm almost always 10 - 15 minutes early for an ADR). I have been turned away 20 minutes early (50s PTC) & another time was able to check in an hour early (Garden Grill on a rainy low crowd day). It really comes down to how busy the restaurant is at the time for them to accommodate any exceptionally early requests, but I can't imagine 10 - 15 minutes ever really being an issue. You may not necessarily get seated early (although I have at times), but you can at least check in.

In general, you may check in early. I have been turned away at some restaurants when it was busy and asked to come back 10 minutes prior. LTT and 'Ohana

We always check in the moment we arrive, even if we arrive on the early side. I say, "we are here when you are ready for us." Sometimes, we get seated earlier b/c sometimes bad weather causes people to skip their reservations.
