ADR System Upgrade - History

I'm curious about how hard or how easy the online
ADRs will be.
Whoever gets to do online ADRs in first
please let the rest of us know how it goes? thanks

I understand the ADR system a little better now.

Called and talked to Cletus and he was a very helpful CM. As mentioned before:

Resort guests can call to make ADR's 90 days before their arrival date. At that time you can make reservations for your entire stay up to 10 days.

IE: We are checking in on May 21, 2009...we can call and make reservations on Feb. 20th for May 21-31.

If you are off resort you only can make ADR's 90 days out....you have no 10 day window like resort guests.

Also, it was explained to me that only a certain number of ressies are released each day for that window...this prevents guests who are checking in a couple days before us from gobbling up all the ressies. sounds like they have a system worked out pretty well. Hope that tid bit helps!

Were arriving the 21st as well! I'm so excited for friday!

This may seem like a silly question but...

When booking ADRs can you call them in in any order? I'm worried about my Le Cellier ressie and want to book it first even tho its not our first place to dine.

And one more question, does disney allow you to book backups? Like DBF and I really want Le Cellier but want to book Cape May for the same time because were unsure of if we'll get Le cellier the first call.

Thanks so much for this sticky and thanks to everyone on here for keeping everything up to date!

Yes. Definitely start with the highest priority ones.

No. There have been reports of Disney cancelling reservations when they discover people are double booked.

Just as a heads up, This is actually one of those questions that turn perfectly normal people here into raving lunatics. Its not entirely without reason. ADRs can be really difficult to get and when one person has 2, it means that someone else won't be able to get one of them.

I tried making ressies for 5/27 and 5/29 and was told those dates had nopt been releases into the system yet - no one was able to book that far out, even though I should be able to under the 90+10 theory

anyone know what's going on or have I missed the memo?!? :)

Hi,

Ninety days from today (Feb 19) is May 20, so you should be able to make ADRs for your dates.

Do you have your confirmation number? That's what they need in order to use the 90+10 rule.

If you do, just call back and speak with somebody else. Maybe you just got someone who didn't know the rules.

Good luck!

When I called yesterday, there is a separate option in the automated menu to make ressies after 5/26 (or 27th). I think I heard they are using a new system for these ressies.

I saw a post on here earlier this week where someone reported that they had made ADRs and the new reservation system was up for dates 5/26 and after. They said the prompts when the call was first answered had options for up to 5/25 and 5/26 and after. I haven't been following it too closely so those are the only details I remember. Hope that helps a bit! Maybe try calling back in case not all CMs are trained on the change yet:confused3 .

good luck!

Everyone keeps talking about making a phone Call but
I thought all of this adjustments was about being able
to book your ADRs online?

no one has said anything about this.

Booking backups, like you are thinking of doing, is not an issue. My understanding is that you're booking Cape May if you call up and don't get LeCellier the first time. You'd continue to try for LeCellier, but have Cape May booked just in case.

Just remember to cancel Cape May if you finally do get LeCellier, and you'll be fine.

(Backups - fine, double - bad :teeth: )

I just updated the first post a few days ago about this. I am trying to also change the thread title when there is an update so it makes it easier to find. (Just so you know what to look for when they finally launch the online bookings) :goodvibes

Thanks, I just read the update. I really looking forward to online because
I think in a way it will be faster because I'm guessing you will be able to
see what's available instead of waiting for the CM to look for you (and then adjusting times and all). Can't wait to online booking.

I’ve noticed that some of us have asked “how-to” or “can someone tell us the date would be” calculate 90 or 180 days out from our check in dates so we will know when to call for reservations for the resorts, dining, and special activities.
I created a spreadsheet that will help with this. There are two versions; one for Excel 2007 (full functionality) and one for Excel 2003 (limited functionality).
On the spreadsheet, put in your check in date in the green cell at the top (format it like this [10/25/2009]) and a lot of the other cells are calculated for you. In a blue box in the middle of the page the dates for you to call to make reservations are calculated for you; 11 months out, 7 months out, 90 days out, and 180 days out. When the cells are green you need to call THAT DAY RIGHT AT 8:50AM ET. The cells turn RED 10 days before you need to call and YELLOW 5 days before. When they are dark BLUE it is past the targeted call date, however you can still call.
If you are a DVC member you can also use the spreadsheet to do some other planning. I’ve been using it for a year or so. Put in your available points and then set the resort you want to stay in, then set the number of points for each day and it does the calculations for you there as well.
Enjoy

I called twice yesterday - the first time there were no additional prompts & the CM had no idea why the system wouldn't take dates past 5/25. Then I saw posts on here with people talking about having to get transferred to the CMs who have the new system, so I called back (really wanted to get Le Cellier for DH's birthday!) Second time I called, after all the regular prompts at the beginning, a different recording came on and said something like "Listen carefully to the following. This information may change daily. If you are calling for reservations after May 25 up to and including May 29, please press one now. Otherwise, please stay on the line." When I got through on that, the first thing the CM did was make sure I was looking for reservations after 5/25. The differences on that call was (1) she took my hotel confirmation number, and (2) the reservation number was 12 digits long (my confirm #s from the morning were only 8 digits long)

I did get my Le Cellier reservation:banana:

Thanl everyone for their replies :) I do intend to cancel my cape may reservation if I call back and fine le cellier open, we can't eat in 2 aces at once :p I'm uding in as a place holder and if we can't get it wekk have cape may :) thanks for all the help :)

Yes, there is a similar message on the members' service phone line too about those dates. I was curious, but since my dates were May 3-16, I didn't have to go there.

This is absolutely wonderful! great job! question though... my dropdowns aren't working. Are your lookup tables in a separate spreadsheet or workbook? Maybe I am the only one that has this problem tho. Other than that its beeeuuutiful!

if you are using the 2003 version some functions may not work. :sad1: 2007 has more capabilities and I havent had time to jump on my old XP PC and rework the details for the older versions of Excel. The dates however should function properly.
