ADR System Upgrade - History

You are correct in that assumption!! I am traveling to disney beginning May 13 thru June 1st, so now I am in the period where I have to make my reservations one day at a time or wait for a few days and make them all at once. Today I could book May 26th. The regular reservation system is booking thru May 25th. On May 26th the new system takes over. Didn't ask what all the changes were, but I hope it includes online booking!!

Ah yes, you are within the +10 window for staying on-site...

But I'm still pretty sure the "new system" took over in December...

It is supposed to be 90 days for everything except CM, CRT and V&A, which can be booked up to June 19th until the 90 day window catches up.

And I thought they were ALREADY on the new reservation system since December?!?

I don't think the new recording said V&A but I could be mistaken. I thought we were on the new system already also, but apparantly not! Surprise, surprise is what it made me think.

Hmm ... I am checking in may 27th. When I booked they told me I could call Feb 26th to make all of my reservations. And I didnt know I could make Chef Mickey reservations now... better get on that! (last time I waited too long and we had a 5something AM reservation)

If you are staying on site, you can book 90 days from your check in date, for up to 10 days into your stay - so your 90 day call in date is correct. The exceptions are at least temporary (they were left at 180 days when they started mucking with the window for the new system).

I don't know, but today when I called they said it was a new system, and the confirmation number they gave me is 4 numbers in length longer than any confirmation number I have ever gotten, and it starts with a 3. The cm even commented on it and told me that it started with a three but not to worry as it is the new system.

I guess I am confused too? :confused3
What is so new about it ?
and what I've been waiting for.... and thought was starting this week is the on line ADR system.
are you telling me that on line won't start till May??
:confused3

I called this morning around 7:30am and they didn't say anything about new reservation system and I booked some ADRs for our trip and the conformation number was the same length as the other ones I made.

I don't know if the online system is starting also. As I said I called to make an adr for Crystal Palace on the 26th and on the prompts they changed the message. It said "If you are calling to make a dining reservation for up to May 25th or for chef mickeys or cinderellas royal table, push 1". "All others, push 2."
I hope it means the online booking is starting!!! I was at work still, after doing a 12 hour shift and I unfortunately didn't think to ask. I have to call again tomorrow, so if no one has the answer I will ask and post.

It is only for reservations AFTER May 25th. When are your adr's?

I just called to rearrange some ADR's for our upcoming Feb. trip and was able to get reservations for restaurants I couldn't get 2 days ago. Weird. Maybe something new is happening to reservation system! Yeah! :goodvibes

So, at the risk of sounding illiterate:

I still can't make reservations 5 months out, right?

So for our trip in July starting on the 12th - Can I call April 2nd (90+10) to start to make all ADr's or do I need to wait until April 12th to make all 5 days at once? I guess I am still confused a bit! & have heard the talka bout online ressie's- I am just not sure how that will work- I mean- no ressie available for 7 people but have 6 tables open for 8 people... I can just see I am going to have to "play" w/ party size to get an online ressie and still not be sure if it took or not- Also, if they have to reserve 2 tables to accommodate the party will online system be able to do that or will it never recognize our party size...

You call 90 days from your check in date, and you can make ADRs for up to 10 days from there. Those staying offsite can only make ADRs 90 days in advance of the date they wish to book the ADR for.

In your case, you can call April 13th (not the 12th), and book ADRs from July 12th-22nd (or 21st - not sure how they count the +10).

Not that only a limited number of tables at certain locations are release for the +10 window - more are released at the 90-day mark. So if you can't get what you want when calling for the +10, call again at exactly 90 days.

What is so exciting about the new reservation system? I mean, I get the the CMs are using some new system and it's probably nicer for them.... but how is it different for the person on the other end of the line (e.g. us)?

If you want to book Chef Mickey's, CRT or Victoria & Albert's, you can do that now for dates up to June 19 or June 20, I've seen both dates posted. Once we reach the date in March which is 90 days from June 19 or June 20, these reservations will also be 90 days out.

After using the PS Calculator: That date is either March 21 or 22.

As far as the new system, the only really exciting component is supposed to be the ability for guests to make reservations online, but there hasn't been any announcement as to when that will start.

Can you book the dinner shows now? I want to book the Hoop-Dee-Doo for our June trip and I thought they were only taking ADR's for Chef Mickey's, V&A and CRT. Am I mistaken? If so, I'd better get calling!!!

Thanks!
Carla

After checking the thread at the top of this page I may be mistaken about the dinner shows. It lists only CM, CRT and Victoria & Albert's.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. You could always book the dinner shows. Some shows (HDDR included) had special booking windows, but I believe HDDR is now just 90 days like anything else, so right now its too soon to call.

The ADRs you mentioned were exceptions to the 90 day rule, not the only ones you could call for, and that exception will go away on March 21st or 22nd unless they change things again.

I called this morning and booked all my ADR's (check in May16). The CM didn't say anything was different and everything seemed "normal." I even thought over an ADR and called back to change the time and did so with another CM. Maybe it's a new system for *them*, but it didn't seem any different for *me* :goodvibes
