ADR System Upgrade - History

Ok, my brain isn't awake yet.

So I can make my CRT and Chef Mickey's reservations as normal 180 days out.

The rest of my ADRs, we will be there April 27th thru May 1st, can be made say late December or whenever they get it up and running.

Does this sound right? 180 day mark is coming up next week!!!

I just (10/23/08 @ 7:50am), called Disney Dining three times, spoke to three diferent agents, and got three different answers to my question, "When can I book a reservation for 2/23/09?" The answers were: October 24, October 26, November 21!!!! This is where the Disney magic fizzles for me. Our trip is 2/18-2/24 (leaving at 7am), so the 23rd is the only day that I haven't booked, and we going for Le Cellier. I am so frustrated! This whole resevation system overhaul is a debacle!
I'm trying to just take a chill, and just be happy that we're going back to my favorite place on Earth, , but it's hard with this key ADR hanging in the balance.
DH works in computers, and it's always a nightmare when they implement a change. One of the many reasons I hate technology! Let's all just go back to pen and paper!

I would trust DisneyDine, just because her track record here has been 100% accurate. She's told us several times about different changes and it always happens exactly the way that she says it's going to go down.

She says that your window will open up October 26, so if it were me - that's the advice I would believe.

i just called to make my dining reservation for feb. 22 and the lady told me we could call sunday the 26th of oct. for the rest of my stay.

..thing Disney has going on now? I planned my ADR's, looked up the 180 date, reminded my travel agent, and now she says she can't book them????

I'm really flustered and anxious now! What if I don't get the stuff we want????

I keep telling myself that no one else can make ADR's for that time period either. But it will be a mad crazy dash on the phone the morning of.

I am thinking of cancelling our trip because I am so anxious and not getting the ADRs we want. It is maddening. Especially when they are doing something like this when it is effecting one of the most popular times of year to go. They should not have scheduled this when it effects the spring break time so much. That was a huge mistake.

I don't want to be a downer...because we certainly don't need anymore disappointments, but, I just called Disney dining and the woman told me the date has now been pushed back to JANUARY 15TH!!!! She also told me that they are getting an update this Sunday and they may know that the system will be ready sooner, so to call back next week. I hope DisneyDine knows if this is true or not.

So on October 26, you will be able to book through March 22.

My guess is that if they move the date back to January 15, if Disney follows the pattern that they've followed all along...
On or about November 20 - Book through March 22
On or about December 20 - Book through April 22
January 15 (system is up) - Book through July 15 (or whatever 180 days is from January 15)

No matter when they do something like that, it's going to affect something. Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Spring Break, July 4th, etc.

No one else can book any ADRs either, so I don't think I'd worry about not getting what you want just yet. We're going over Memorial Day, so it will affect us too.

Ack, January 15 seems soooo far away. Though of course with the holidays the time will fly by. I just like having everything set and done. January just seems so "close" to May that I worry about getting the days/times I want - because more people are likely to call the closer you get. I'm mostly concerned about LeCellier, which we want for our last night, since I can do CM and CRT 11/3. With young kids there's only so much flexibility - a 9 PM dinner, for instance, won't work. Oh well - it will be what it will be!!

I know it's hard to not get frustrated but this is an improvement to the system that should make obtaining reservations much easier in the future. It has to happen sometime and there will always be a holiday to work around. There's a price to pay for progress unfortunately. Don't let it ruin a vacation for you. No one else is able to get any ADR's in your time frame either so try to be positive you may just get everything you wanted when your window opens. I wish you luck!

You probably won't need to be up that early but what if I'm wrong... how important is it for you to get? If it were me, I'd get up & get it over with & then go back to bed.

Ok, this is news to me... I've received no other information other than what I reported. October 26th window to open to allow ADR's through March 22nd and new system going live in late December.

Yes, it is worth it because my dd really wants to eat at Tusker house at 8 AM!!! So, I will be up at 6 AM CST and on the phone. I may have to do it outside so I don't wake the rest of the family up, but it is a price to pay to make your kids happy!!!

Once again, thank you DISNEYDINE for keeping everyone current.

I will be calling to secure ADRs Sunday for the first few days of our 2 week stay...pixie dust to all those who will be calling, or have to wait. The way I see it, getting certain restaurants on specific days is a bonus to our trips, but won't make or break my vacation one way or the other...I will be on vacation, after all!

I know it stinks having to rework your "usual" planning schedules, but it sounds like the final product will be worth the inconvenience to those of us forced to wait to schedule now.
